I'd like to put the 17" or 18" AMG monoblocks on my 2000 e430 4matic. What is the biggest tire I can put on the 17 x 7.5 inch rims or the 18 x 8 inch rims on tirerack? Would ride quality suffer a lot with the 18" rims? I'd like to have them all the same size.

Thanks

RE: 17" amg monoblock

they might be 235/ 55/17 anything over 235s you need an 8 inch wide rim. 18 inch rims you might loose some of the ride comfort, but if you choose right tire like a bridgestone it might compensate the reduced ride comfort. but you will gain better handling. also remember an x,z or y, tire rating will wear out sooner than an h, or tire rated up to 130.good luck.

what about looks with the 18s? I've seen some cars that need to be lowered when bigger rims are put on or they look like there is too much space over the tire in the wheel well.

18" rims look great if you can make them match the car kind of like a fashion show for MB all you need is the right profile tire like a 40, ask around on the E class forum, maybe someone did this.I think the E55 AMG have got 18"

i have 18x8 w/35 off set on my 2001 e320 sport w/2245/40/18 tires all around and they fit and look great.

but be careful with the off set because i had them on my 99 e320 and they rubbed in the front on bumps but for some reason i guess the suspension is different on the sport because they don't rub.

i would stagger the front and use 235/40/18 and you can go wider on the back....i purchased sumitomos htr+ from tire rack at around $100 a tire and their a great all season tire
