I came across some factory MB '91 500SL 16x8 ET36 15-slot chrome wheels at a price I couldn't pass up. I know once upon a time AMG offered some 16x8 and 17x8 ET11 wheels for the W116 sedans. I'm assuming they fit if AMG offered them.
My plan is to run 25mm H&R spacers with the '91 500SL rims. I haven't purchased the spacers yet. Does anybody know if this setup will work with minimal to no rubbing on my '75 450SE?

Theoretically it should but I don't want to waste a bunch of money on spacers if you guys know differently.
TIA

Somebody must have 8" wide rims on a W116 or old W107

Somebody must be running 8' wide wheels on a W116 or older W107 chassis car. What is the ideal offset and/or backspacing?

Just so you know, it works fine

This is just to follow up. You can safely run W129 16x8 ET34 wheels on a W116 with 25mm spacers.
I'm using H&R hubcentric adapters and everything works fine. You can probably go bigger on the rear with the correct offset.
Here a picture where a guy is running 17x8.5 and 17x10 Borbet Type A wheels with 235 and 275 tires on a W116.
