Does anyone know if the 16" ML320 wheels fit/clear the brakes on my ML55. I was thinking on getting a set with winter tires.

Thanks for any advice you can lend me.

Tom, stick with the dimensions suggested for the ML55 - 18-inchers. You've got uprated brakes, and even if the wheels fit, there may not be enough heat dissapation with the smaller wheels.

Why choose cheese-y solutions for your supercar?? Go with the second set of wheels with the snows, but have them fit. They're available from the shmucks out there fitting on 22-inch wheels. ML55 wheels not only are larger, but wider, too.

Be careful with the width though, the whole point of winter tires is traction.

The wider the tire, the less traction you will have. The bigger tires will tend to ride up on top of the snow, instead of biting through it.

In my case I put 235/65R-17 Michelin X-Ice tires on my ML500 and the difference between it and my buddy's identical truck with 275/55/17 Goodyear Fortera tires on it is night and day.
