Does anyone make a replica of the 15-hole wheels in a larger size? I mocked up this shot of those wheels with the rim diameter set to 18" (these are shown in true scale.) I really like these in 18" on these cars. Is it possible that anyone makes these? I know that it can be done, but for one-offs the price would be astronomical.

Those look outstanding! I have heard that people were able to use the 16" 15 hole wheels from a 129 series. I don't know what the offset is on those wheels but 16" or 17" would be fantastic on the cars. A very classic look yet updated to be very conteporary.

Can you do one with 17 or 18 inch bundts? Maybe chrome? I always throught they were really cool looking wheels just way too small.

When I e-mailed Boyd Cottington's shop about making 16 or 17" Bundt's they never responded...great way for them to drum up business. I too would be interest to see a 17" Bundt mock up, I think it would look really good.

I've heard stories as to Boyd being a real pric*. If the part is not going onto a revamped old hotrod design, he can't be bothered.

Why do you think Chip Foose got the hell out of Dodge? So he could design cars different than the same old design that Boyd has been doing for 20+ years.

Replicas

I can have it done. I am in the wheel business and right now I am making replicas of the 80's 3 piece AMG's in 19 inch. I am doing it with forged technologie. Forged barrels and forged machines centers. They are waaaay lighter and waaay stronger. Besides I can have it done for any offset any depth any finish.

there was a topic a long time ago where i mentioned my favorite possible wheel would be a larger wider 15 hole. choptop, i asked you for a quote of 17x9 if i remember and never heard back. but that was when i could have paid for it..

300se126, i think you and i think on the same level, cause no one else has taken interested to my idea of larger 15 holes except you.

Someone already pointed out the SL's had 16" 15-hole designs. don't remember the offset though.

Also, Lorinser made wheels very similar but with a nice lip. I think they were 16's, too.

I love em - I think our best bet for now may be these 1st-generation Audi A8L wheels. They are 17" or 18", avaliable in chrome or alloy, and look similar. Here they are on the A8, and on my car in 18" alloy. I think they should actually fit too, just need some long lugs and spacers. The bolt pattern is the same, and the offset somewhat close. Tell me what you think.

Oh, and the 17" bundts are on the way!

With the original 15 hole wheels being such a pain in the ass to clean because of the inner lip, if someone was going to reproduce the basic design, I'd say cut that edge off so that you can get your sponge, brush, finger w/rag, etc. thru the opening.
I hated cleaning my 15 hole wheels almost as much as cleaning the BBS "basket weave" wheels that came on my BMW. The 3 pc. AMGs are a piece of cake compared to those.
