I have a 1995 129 320. The latest work I have done is fit the interior from a 1999 car. I was fortunate enough to find one that had not been removed already so being able to strip the donor car was a real advantage as I managed to get all the bits.
It was an enjoyable job to do, the only fiddly bit was the door cards which were slightly different on the newer car. -I had to drill some brackets off the donor and fit them to mine and fiddle around a bit with the door handles as these come on the later door cards but fit to the door on my car.
The only other tricky bit was the head lining from the soft top. - This stripped out really easily until the bit where the row of screws secures it to the roof but would not come any further.
After a bit of negociating with the seller, we came to an agreement and I bought the whole soft-top, which was excellent as it is perfect in every way and like a brand new roof.......However, this is the problem.......The new roof went on really easily, in an afternoon and looks great, but, it seems to be slightly 'deeper' around the top of the windows.
I am guessing here but I reckon the later car must have a function that lowers the windows slightly on door opening and closes them again on closing the door?
Is there anybody out there that a) has got this far down reading this post without getting bored, and b) knows what bits I would need to get round this little problem....
The donor car is now in a scrap yard somewhere.
My last resort would be to cut down the door switch so it works as soon as the door moves and fit some sort of a pulsing relay and join into the window circuit, what I would really like to do is use original parts so is there a handle switch on the later cars? Can anyone shed any light on this please?
Thanks in advance.

The newer models have the auto drop feature with brings the window down about 1/4" to clear the weatherstipping. As far as I know this is controlled by the soft top controller which is quite expensive. You may be able to simply remover the weatherstipping from your original top and put it on the top you just purchased.

And agreed you will get more eyeballs on this in the R129 forum.

Thanks. I did put it straight on the 129 forum but have had no replies. I was not aware that the soft top had removable weather strips, I'll take a look at it.
I have done a bit more research and it seems that even though I have a late 1995 model (129063), as it is european it still has the old workings. I think that 2 wire motors and a limit switch in the bottom of the doors proves this.
I won't be changing the roof controller that is for sure.
I will post what I eventually do.
