Hey Verbal, can we have a couple more pics of the one on the left? A dude in Riyadh has a set of four of those same SLK wheels that I'm eying (I also happen to have secured a fifth for a complete set) and I wanna get totally on board before I commit.
The wheels come from a CLK320, circa 1998-2000. They were on the car when I bought it. I think they look great on the W124. They're a +1 wheel size, and they take the 205/55-16 tire size. I have no fender interference problems.

my volvo 740(940) t-wagon came with 195/60-15 and fit 205/55-16 just perfectly (it was an optional factory fitting). per tire size charts, 205/55-16 is an even closer match to the benz stock 195/65-15

LCG, the issue isn't one of tire sizes (I've run multiple sets of 215/55s on all of the 16" wheels I've got,) but one of excessive offsets: The ET33 Tolimans not only rubbed on most bumps, but killed what precious little steering feel there was; neither my ET42 Tolimans nor my ET37 AMG knockoffs caused any of these issues.

Some times I improvise and stand speechless at it:

Can you tell what I did there?

Non MB 300E lettering + some silver gaffer tape?

Did you paint the boot handle too? From Black to Silver.
Err... yes, yes and yes :D

I swear, I did those because I couldn't afford originals or better alternatives... and to make a change in an opportunity that presented itself.

The 300E badge is a commercial non original that had the chrome shine fading quickly and I got myself a free handle but it was washed out so I painted it silver instead of black since the opportunity presented itself to make the change. Unfortunately I couldn't find chrome paint for it. I put the silver duct tape because the paint (not original) cracked and pealed because of a rear ending it had (it was a W211), and at least it looked uglier than this.

Does it look bad?

No it doenst look bad - you're doing your best with the parts available to you. Nothing wrong with that.
