why not just give you the power all the time and you dont have to remember to push a button?

That's just like engineering the car to run on 4 cylinders rather than 8 when not on full throttle. It's not like this is a new idea. I understand leaving some of the ponies out of the picture in the name of fuel economy and things like that. What I don't understand about this though is that you're talking 400 horses vs. 500. I mean seriously!!! You're not exactly saving a ton on fuel economy just because you throttle it down to 400 horses. In this case I completely agree. Why leave out the extra horsepower? Just let it be there all the time and leave it up to the vehicle driver to use it responsibly.

400HPs at 18mpg, 500HPs at 10mpg ... I think that is a big diff there. You are not going to need 500 all the time, why consume twice as much gas? I think it's a great feature.

Yeah I see that being a very cool feature. The ability of going to 4 cylinders from 8 is someting my CLK55 has, it really helps when going on trips stuck 95 North. Dodge really jumped on that bandwagon when they merged with MB. I believe that all of their Magnum and Charger
