That's just like engineering the car to run on 4 cylinders rather than 8 when not on full throttle. It's not like this is a new idea. I understand leaving some of the ponies out of the picture in the name of fuel economy and things like that. What I don't understand about this though is that you're talking 400 horses vs. 500. I mean seriously!!! You're not exactly saving a ton on fuel economy just because you throttle it down to 400 horses. In this case I completely agree. Why leave out the extra horsepower? Just let it be there all the time and leave it up to the vehicle driver to use it responsibly.
Yeah I see that being a very cool feature. The ability of going to 4 cylinders from 8 is someting my CLK55 has, it really helps when going on trips stuck 95 North. Dodge really jumped on that bandwagon when they merged with MB. I believe that all of their Magnum and Charger
