Hi,

My E200K is approaching its 100,000km (60,000mile) service and I was wondering about the parts I should consider changing/checking during this service interval as it is usually considered a "major" service here in Malaysia. I do not have the original service manuals for this car as it was bought second hand and the previous owner lost them. I have changed the transmission & brake fluid recently but nothing else of significance. Thanks!

This is a big service so do not use the Dealers unless you are prepared to spend a fortune. This service requires an inspect and report on the whole car so maybe it may be an idea to get an indie or specialist workshop to make a report and then do the work yourself.

The major service B should be at 100000 miles.

Item I would consider:
- synthetic engine oil
- fleece oil filter
- ATF and filter
- differential oil change
- power steering fluid
- air filter
- aircon air filter
- aircon carbon filter
- coolant flush
- brake pad with rotors (depends on when was it last changed)
- spark plugs and O2 sensors are recommended at 100000 miles

Henry, by giving a shopping list like this you are playing hit and miss and that can prove expensive for the chap, an inspection is important.

Think about it that way, you get an indie in Malaysia to check you car, what do they do? the above plus check code. If you are able to do the above maintenance, you will notice if there is a problem. Simple code reader can check code for you. Any transmission problem would lead you into limb mode and you will yell  But if you are not a DIY person, at least change the filter (read our sticky) and then get the indie to do the rest, still cheaper. Sorry if you think I am stingy, yes I am.

IMO read the sticky first, focus on the items listed, change as you think it is necessary as Eric suggested. An indie may add on things like sparkplugs, coil packs, CPS, etc.

Mine 2000 e320 has all the above done within 3 months, thanks to the sticky writer here

Just a reminder: the list in post 2 is for service at 100000miles (not km).

The US standard service B at 60000miles includes engine oil, oil filter, carbon filter only according to reliable source.

Hi Henry, Give the man a link to the sticky, some members do not know what a sticky is - thanks

Dear Eric,

It seems that our discussion does not seem to help the OP very well, since you are experience in this. If for DIY, can you just list out what the OP should look for? I will add the links afterward according to your suggestions.

Henry

The list was in post 3 and not post 2??

OK, if we get it right chaps it is an inspect and report service and there is no shopping list.

It is a high mileage service yes, but only inspect and report appart from the obvious oil changes and he seems to have done most of it anyway. I hope this clarifies it for the OP.

Thanks

Hi guys,

Thanks for all your valuable suggestions. I do appreciate all the input as I am quite a stickler about my car and like it to be in perfect running condition at all times since I frequently exceed 100mph out on the highways here. Thanks for the PM Henry but unfortunately they didn't allow me to reply to your message. In any case, I stay in Johor Bahru which is just across from Singapore :)
