Just wondering if the SLK is affected by the 1.3m car recall for electronic failure which may affect brake performance and shut down auxillary/non-essential power items?

I know the CLS, E and SLs are affected...

I understood that the SLK is affected - not for the brake issue, but for the alternator issue. See below.

Mercedes-Benz is recalling 1.3m cars worldwide for alternator and battery faults. Models with six- and eight-cylinder petrol engines built between June 2001 and November 2004 are to be recalled for checks to their voltage regulator in the alternator; E- and CLS-Class models made from January 2002-January 2005 are to receive new battery control unit software, and E-Class, SL-Class and CLS-Class models made June 2001-March 2005 are to have their braking systems revised.

Properly read. These are two separate sentences; the use of a semicolon suggests that too.

The sentence about the 6/8 cylinder cars is quite separate from the one following it. It has to be - the sentence about E and CLS even refers to a different time frame (jan 2001 to jan 2005)whereas the sentence that refers to the 6/8 cylinder cars is for the time jun 2001 to Nov 2004. This would be ALL 6/8 cylinder cars built in this time frame - including SLKs.

The two sentences are independent. Read again. All in all, three categories of vehicles are recalled. Ours are caught in the first.

This honestly seems to me like a case of bad punctuation clouding the meaning of the sentence. All the other reporting done over here seems to indicate that this problem is localized to the E, SL and CLS class vehicles.

I agree with Roadsta...the SLKs are included in the voltage regulator recall but only if the engine was built thru November 2004. Mine was built January 2005 so should be ok.

As written... E and CLS class for battery.....E, SL and CLS class for brakes... and ALL Classes with 6-8 cylinder gas engines built between June 2001 and November 2004 for voltage regulator.
