I am new to the forum and just purchased my first Benz. Its a 2006 C230 Sport sedan. I purchased the clarion MAX685BT before researching and now the fun has begun. I do not have the HK system or a changer or anything. I have a two channel and four channel amp with subs if needed but would like to know what to do to install the head unit. I understand there is not a harness available for my car so I am wondering if I splice into the factory wires in the harness or run new? Do I leave the factory plug just hanging behind the new deck? I have installed complete systems before so running new speaker wire is not an issue. My only question on that would be could I just splice into the speaker wires behind the deck and run them to the trunk to the amps from there? Im not even sure if my car has fiber optics or not. Wow this stuff is overwhelming!!

Im pretty sure if you don't have the HK system, then it should be the same thing as my 05. If it is, then they do make a wiring harness. Its made for a VW but works on our cars. I got it from Crutchfield.

Got it. It was pretty easy. Put a couple jl twelves and kept it real clean but very good sound. The only trouble I am having is I cant pick up radio stations with the antenna adapter. Any tricks? Its the double din clarion max685bt headunit.

i don't get as good a reception as i did with the stock HU either. Its not bad, i just get static once in awhile now... Don't really know what to do with it either. I guess its not bad enough to really disturb me.

Did you just add 12's or did you do new mids/highs also? if you just added subs and an amp to the stock system, how does it sound?? i'm thinking of adding just 1 10" or 12" sub... you have any pics of your setup?
