The other day I received the message on the display stating right mirror turn signal. So I checked it and the turn signal is not working. Is this a hard fix and what is the approx. price for parts to replace. Or should I take it to the dealership, I'm just scared that they will charge me a crazy amount for a turn signal light.

my wife's 05 has had problems with the turnsignals in both mirrors. i had to do some creative engineering to get them to work properly. basically, when the male connector in the mirror was fully seated in the female connector on the LED strip, there wasn't a good connection. after playing with the connection for awhile, I discovered that there was a sweet spot with the male connector being about halfway in. the fix was to basically clip off the mounting post for the male connector, then superglue a little piece of a zip tie to the outside of the male connector. this was done so that the male side would fit tightly in the female side and wouldn't come loose. as i got ready to slide the mirror cover on, i made the connection for the turnsignal with my fingers, making sure i was in the spot where the connection was good. slid the mirror cover on and viola! no more message and a functioning turnsignal. i almost bought new LED strips myself until i found out it was just a crappy connection.

It is actually quite easy to remove. Bend mirror towards rear of car and hold open. You will see a silver clip near the out edge between the motor and the plastic housing. Use a flat head screw driver to push the clip in (towards the door) and the housing should slide off. The turn signal assembly is built into the houseing and the connector comes off easily. On my 05 c230k you have to replace the whole light assembly (clear plastic part) it is sealed and i did not see a way to open it get to indiv bulbs. Replacement was on pelicanparts.com par # 203-820-16-21-M281 for $24.50 plus shipping.

Must be a bug with the '05s because my wife's Coupe had the same problem. It's a low cost repair even from an independant shop or dealer. We had a local shop fix it. Now I'd just replace it myself using the information above.

I have experienced that with my car and every time it has been dirty connector and not a malfunctioning LED assembly. Sometimes it has been as easy as take apart and reassemble. Other times a little electrical contact cleaner has been required.

I opened my driver side mirror today because it's been displaying the message for the turn signal strip for a couple weeks even though it had been working, but it just went out a couple days ago. when i opened my mirror i found that the plug that powers the turn signal is actually snapped into place on the mirror housing, so as you pull the mirror cover off, the power plug is pulled out of the turn signal. When you put the mirror cover back on, the turn signal makes the connection with the power plug on its own. I don't see how it's possible for the power plug to shake loose from the turn signal as others have described. I have a new turn signal on order, it will be an easy swap.

fyi i got the turn signal in the mail yesterday and did the swap today, easy peasy. comments... make sure you turn your mirror inward so the cover slides off, only 1 of a handful of tutorials mentions this, so i wanted to reiterate it. please use the proper size screw driver to remove the two screws holding the turn signal to the cover. if the one in your hand doesn't work the first time, try another one, you don't want to pause this project over a stripped screw. and lastly, i would recommend you clean the mirror cover inside where the gasket on the turn signal presses up against it, so when you reinstall the new one, you get a good tight seal. total time about 5 minutes.

I found this thread because I am getting the " door mirror turn signal" warning. So from what I am reading. You actually have to replace the whole lens not just the bulb? You can bend back the door mirror housing to get to the screw to replace the lens? Someone please confirm.

If the mirrors are folded often the wires can break in the housing, the strip lamp is not expensive from Mercedes
