I bought this from its previous owner with 78,000 original miles on it. The old lady was good enough to provide the complete 20+ year service history from the dealership she purchased and serviced it with. With the exception of the damage from shipping and the ravage of time, she is perfect!
1988 Mercedes-Benz 560SL (Guards Red)
The radiators plastic end cap failed, so there is a brand new behr radiator in the front end. I also replaced the AC compressor as it developed a crack along a casting seam. Beyond some new spark plugs and wiper fluid lines its all original (for now, needs some rubber bits).
I swapped the original Radio DIN for a new one with satellite and bluetooth, but again, kept the original in a box for originality sake.
I removed the gilded emblems and placed them in a box. I know that was an optional extra but I find them tacky. I got the OEM chrome replacements and am very happy. I am debating the euro-bumpers. Some jerk slashed my original soft-top to try to steal something (nothing to steal) so I just put the OEL replacement on. I had a local vendor do it, its gorgeous and i can see out the windows for the first time ever! The hard top is going into storage for a while.
iPod, bluetooth, satellite radio interface.
All original and appears within spec.
Wheel and Tire
I put Pirelli Contisports on her when I replaced the dry-rotted originals. They may be too stick but the v8 more than gets them going. The factory wheels are my least favorite part about the car, but they are original and rash free.
