History
Bought this one from a friend, who wanted to scrap it. Invested 200 work hours and 5000 dollars in parts over 3 years. Drives like a dream now. No leaks. Has all options installed. Everything works, not a single missing part and nothing rattles or flakes...and I mean nothing! Came with all paperwork, manuals and 3 keys complete. Gave it to my wife for our wedding anniversary last year. She loves it.

Modifications

Drivetrain
It came with a fairly new head (7 years old) and excellent compression on all four cylinders. Kompressor, Air pump, AC, Power steering and Waterpump were in top condition. Changed all fluids incl. engine oil, transmission, brake, cooling, final drive and Kompressor fluid. Removed rats nest and had to clean out 7 years of dirt from the engine compartment. Changed valve cover gasket, spark plugs, front crank seal, O2 sensors and most rubber hoses and plastic clips.
Interior
Red/Charcoal interior. Leather seats were still nice. Removed and fixed both door panels and exchanged all dashboard parts and center console for refurbished plastic parts from Holger in Florida. Installed new headliner, sport steering wheel and refurbished all 5 hydraulic roof cylinders.
Exterior
Changed grill for updated sportier version. New... used... perfect AMG front bumper for 400 dollars. Needed partial paint-job due to faded clear coat and some scratches in 2019
Audio
Kept the OEM BOSE system incl. CD-changer, since they worked fine with excellent sound, but swapped the head-unit against a refurbished Becker Audio 10 with aux-input.
Lighting
Swapped headlights for black Dual Halo Spider lights.
Exhaust
Added SL320 chrome tip
Suspension
Installed new OEM rear suspension and steering damper as well as 4 new shocks. After the 4-wheel alignment it drives like a smooth Go-cart.
Wheel and Tire
Came with some junky chrome mags and worn tires. Installed 8x18 JNC (BBS style) wheels with +34ET and perfect Centerbore and mounted 235/40ZR18 on all 4. Added 5 mil spacer ion front for tight fit without rubbing or fender problems.

Baby Benz developed a misfire in cylinder number 2 in the morning (or after driving it for 8 min) and has a slow coolant loss without visible drip at 155.000 miles with some light white smoke coming out of the exhaust. Oh well, you know what that means. I pulled the head and had it overhauled by a specialist, just to realize that the short block has corroded between cylinders 2 and 3 to a point where I would have to pull it and get it machined. Got an excellent new short block and installed new bearings and rings. I will swap the short block after Christmas and make it new again. When you think you're done....

Latest update on the Baby Benz. Removed everything from the old short block. Got all new seals and gaskets and cleaned all attachments. Will pull the short block this weekend and install the refurbished one. The new head looks good and was pressure tested in the shop.

Changed the short block this weekend. Was able to get everything done on two ramps in my garage. Used an engine hoist from my buddy and bought an engine stand at a local parts store. Car started up on first attempt and runs super smooth. Test drive went well without leaks and stumbles. I will upload a couple pictures next week.
