Standard four door sedan with sun roof; power everything and a lot o'miles
One owner car from new; 251,000 miles and was stored for 2+ years; Out of storage and with a fresh battery, fired right up and ran, even with bad old gasoline. Car is currently undergoing a mechanical refresh (tune up and full service including transmission flush; all new brakes (rotors, pads, brake lines flush and fill; repair electrical gremlins; new Bilstein shocks and struts; five new tires (four were flat-spotted and the spare, although unused, was rotted) Next step is a trip to the body shop to fix three rust spots and then a full re-spray in original Pearl Black. More after that and pictures of body work and paint.
1988 Mercedes-Benz 260E (Pearl Black)
Engine is dead stock 2.6 liter in line six and compression is 150 pounds across all 6 cylinders; no smoke; does not burn or leak oil and has plenty of pep after a full service tune-up. After we log a couple hundred miles; will check mileage and possibly replace all injectors. New battery and a thorough engine cleaning
Interior will need to be restored. Have order many bits and pieces and will be refinishing Zebrano wood trim as well as re-trimming front seats and read cushion; rest is surprisingly clean and undamaged. Will get a Becker 780 Grand Prix radio modified for audio/aux/Bluetooth
None: stock; stock MB wheels, no modifications; new tires are plus one at 205 65 R15
Need to remove two (2) subwoofers and a bunch of patched together junk from the 90s and will simply go with stock MB set up plus Bluetooth/Audio/I-pod jacks
Just installed all new Bilstein Touring shocks, struts, boots, bumpers and top mounts at around $900. Car rides as though new with new tires replacing old flat-spotted Michelins.
