  1. Checking Transmission fluid levels

    W203 C-Class
This port is really a poor design. It has been redesign and the new one will still leak with age. I would not reinstall the plate without a RTV sealant!
  2. Checking Transmission fluid levels

    W203 C-Class
Check your oil test port in front of the engine near the power steering pump! When (not if) the gasket fail from age, oil will be blown all the way back to the exhaust pipe. The faster you go.......the more it will leak. Ask me how I know.
  3. Mercedes service lies and deception

    R170 SLK-Class
I doubt the dealer bent your rim installing a new tire. More than likely you hit a pothole or object on the road. With low profile tires on the rear, it is something that can easily happen.
  4. Mercedes service lies and deception

    R170 SLK-Class
It depends on what size wheels are currently on the car. From your description, it sounds like you have staggered (wider wheels on the rear) 18" wheels.
  5. Power steering grinding noise, dealer can't find issue. (see video)

    W166 M-Class / GLE-Class
Sounds like tire rubbing/scrubbing on smooth concrete surface to me. Did you just get new tires? New tires are more prone to doing this. You can also try parking on a different surface (like asphalt) and see if that make any difference.
  6. Aux pump to block hose size

    W210 E-Class
The new replacement hose now has a fabric sheath instead of a rubber one. It's too dark outside for me to take a picture of the bubble on mine right now. Maybe Kensk74 will post one before I do tomorrow. Here's a picture of the new replacement hose:
  7. Lug nuts for spare tire ... where are they?

    W210 E-Class
LOL........I think the problem was resolved 13 years ago. :)

  9. Good set up to scan, adapt and reset

    C209/A209 CLK-Class
LOL...........the previous owner of my newly acquired 2003 E320 wagon told me he recently had the oil changed. The oil looked clean, but I decided to change it again because I didn't know what type of oil was used. Surprise, surprise!!!! They didn't change the oil filter!
  10. Space saver tire valve replace

    C209/A209 CLK-Class
Yeah...........those valve stems go bad with age. The valve stem is a different size from the ones on a regular rim. As I recall, the hole for the valve stem on a space saver is smaller. The tire shop I went to had to order one for my spare as they did not have one in stock. I have since...
  11. Good set up to scan, adapt and reset

    C209/A209 CLK-Class
I would use OEM air filters. Here is a good read on K&N air filters: https://www.nicoclub.com/archives/kn-vs-oem-filter.html
  12. transmission on a clk 320

    General Mercedes-Benz
You're assuming a lot. Check engine codes first thru OBD port. What makes you think you have a transmission problem? Transmission codes have to be pulled from 38 pin port under hood with appropriate scanner and adapter cord. Burning oil smell can be caused by lots of things. Two very common...
  13. Replacement Keys - w/o two trips (or even one..)?

    W123 E,CE,D,CD,TD,TE Class
    Doesn't a 1983 300D just use a cut key? Locksmith?
  14. Pan Drop mandatory for 13 pin Connector change out ?

    W163 M-Class
Only way to tell if 13 pin plug is leaking is to unplug it. Oil on the front corner is most likely from valve or oil test port cover.
  15. 94 C280 Base - wheel upgrade help...

    Wheels
Good luck trying to get non-standard size tires from Costco for your car. They made me jump thru hoops just for optional size tires on AMG wheels for my CLK and E320. Also, check your bolts on your new wheels. They should stick out the back by 5/8" to 3/4". The thickness of the wheel hub can...
  16. My New Car - Issues with Front height, SLS related?

    W210 E-Class
Looks kind of normal to me from your pictures. Measure the distant from the ground to the bottom of the fender at the wheel center. Mine is about 27 1/4" to 27 1/2" at all four corners.
  17. What have you done for your W210 today/lately?

    W210 E-Class
I replaced the secondary air pump on my wagon today. The old one was starting to sound like a jet engine. It was a very easy job. One bolt and taking no more then ten minutes. Plug and play..........doesn't get any easier than that. A new Bosch one is over $250. I got one at Pick and Pull for...
  18. Buffing Newbie

    Detailing and Car Care
You're absolutely correct. Nothing beats experience and I will clay bar next time! I just got tired of working on this car for the last month and a half since I got it. I fixed everything, changed all fluids and did preventative replacement of wear items. I did considered all of the advices...
  19. W124 wagon cargo mat?

    W124 E,CE,D,TD Class
Never seen a mat that covers the whole cargo area with the rear seat down. On my W210, I use a WeatherTech universal cargo mat for that area. It doesn't cover the whole area, but does protect and cushion heavy loads. If you turn it upside down, the "fingers" also help prevents thing from...
