  1. 1980 300TD Hatch Strut Instalation

    W123 E,CE,D,CD,TD,TE Class
Correct, its a triple square bit and NOT a torx. If you use a torx, you will strip it!
  2. What did you do to your 126 today?

    W126 S,SE,SEC,SEL,SD,SDL Class
I still see it on my computer, its the 3rd picture from the top in your post. From what I remember reading, armorall is a silicone that penetrates and then dries out causing shrinkage. I would just use a towel and wipe it clean at this point. 303 Aerospace is good however, and I recommend...
  3. What did you do to your 126 today?

    W126 S,SE,SEC,SEL,SD,SDL Class
Do not use armorall on the dash... if you look through the archives, you'll find people who complained that it lead to cracks in their dash. BTW.. one of your post images looks like a cartoon version of the Rodney King Jr aftermath? Mistake?
  4. I could not resist

    W126 S,SE,SEC,SEL,SD,SDL Class
I say "defederalize" it, put back Gen I Euro SEC bumpers, Euro headlights, Tail lights and call it a day. You see less and less of pristine original low mile cars, and unless it was tuned originally by a large and well known tuner, stock cars hold the most value.
  5. Pictures of my SEC

    W126 S,SE,SEC,SEL,SD,SDL Class
I'll relay the info to him.
  6. Mercedes 2.5-16 engine swap...

    W123 E,CE,D,CD,TD,TE Class
Good, high-rev'ing motor.... but not a good match for the W123. The motor is also costly in maintenance. You can probably make it work, but don't expect the car to act and feel anywhere like a 190E with that motor.
  7. Need new engine for my 230e

    W123 E,CE,D,CD,TD,TE Class
Early M102's I believe had single timing chains rather than the updated double strand chains. I also think the early ones had mechanical lifters. As said, the 190E's also came with M102's and may work.

    W126 S,SE,SEC,SEL,SD,SDL Class
This coming straight from AMG... Winter driving tires.... Lets end this debate about what tire size and whether these wheels were "designed" for the W126.
  9. Will Oris 124 rack fit on 126?

    W126 S,SE,SEC,SEL,SD,SDL Class
Timinig I mentioned in my reply to you, condition and pricing will depend on what I find. Its been in storage for so long that I don't honestly remember. Finding a genuine Oris one in the US will be very hard, your best bet is looking for a Thule one if you need it ASAP.
  10. Will Oris 124 rack fit on 126?

    W126 S,SE,SEC,SEL,SD,SDL Class
No it won't, its chassis-specific. I sent you a message earlier stating I will have one in the near future, but I guess you're no longer interested in what I will be bringing over.
  11. Mercedes 17" AMG O.Z. Racing 3 pieces staggered wheels.

    For Sale/Wanted/Trade/Giveaway
Even cracked wheels have value... whoever got them for $75 a piece got a STEAL.
  12. Nice DEPO euro headlights , tailight and chrome gauge rings

    W126 S,SE,SEC,SEL,SD,SDL Class
    "Genuine depo":grin
  13. What euro wagon would you choose?

    W123 E,CE,D,CD,TD,TE Class
280TE!!!! ;-) Of those listed, I would choose the 84 300TD. My reasons, I like 1984 ;-), the anthracite grey color is a great color and the black interior is equally nice and rare in a w123, plus the listed options are all great.
  14. quick penta pics

    W126 S,SE,SEC,SEL,SD,SDL Class
I have all 3 varieties and I rank my likes as follows... 3pc OZ AMG > Aero I et11 (flat faced) > ATS AMG 5 spoke Those who are shitting on the 3pc are just haters:devil
  15. Will this become a gasser only forum in the future?

    W123 E,CE,D,CD,TD,TE Class
Not to mention the nearly $1/gallon difference in cost between diesel and gas.:devil
  16. 1983 300TD

    W123 E,CE,D,CD,TD,TE Class
I applaud the work and effort you're putting into this wagon. Refreshing to see someone doing repairs the right way. Keep up the good work and thanks for posting your progress!
  17. Source for winter floor mats?

    W126 S,SE,SEC,SEL,SD,SDL Class
I use Lloyd mats's protector over my factory carpet. They also have a rubber mat which I would assume they have it sized for the W126.
  18. Feind 19mm rear sway bar fitment issue. Gen II suspension aren't not all the same.

    W126 S,SE,SEC,SEL,SD,SDL Class
I will say this again... US SPEC 560's from 1986-1987 have the anti-squat set up. 1988-1991 were different. Not sure what Feind used for his prototype, but our member ElRojo who had a set made prior to Feind's used his 1990 560SEL and stated it was for the later 560's.
  19. UK Numbers

    W126 S,SE,SEC,SEL,SD,SDL Class
Good to see the #'s in detail. I remembered reading the 560SE was a German-only model, good to see something that proves otherwise.
  20. Feind 19mm rear sway bar fitment issue. Gen II suspension aren't not all the same.

    W126 S,SE,SEC,SEL,SD,SDL Class
1986 and 1987 US 560SEL models have the Anti-squat set up. Mercedes went away with this set up later.
