  1. Washer nozzle valve replacement - wrong size?

    R/C107 SL/SLC Class
Yep, that's what I ordered and received. the valve just doesn't fit in to the washer nozzle like the originals. Looks like I can try to drill out the inside of the nozzle base, or try some type or rubber hose to connect them. I'll also go ahead and order new nozzles in case they are different...
  2. Washer nozzle valve replacement - wrong size?

    R/C107 SL/SLC Class
I verified that the "nozzles" on the hood are the same part. The issue is the heated "valve" that plugs in to the nozzle from underneath, with the electrical connection. It simply will not fit in to the nozzle part, and it is the only part available. If I used a piece of tubing, it would have...
  3. Washer nozzle valve replacement - wrong size?

    R/C107 SL/SLC Class
I got them from Pelican Parts and they said they were OEM parts. They look the same as those that appear on the MB dealer parts site. I threw the plastic and label they came in. The originals are as they appear in teh pics. Completely broken apart. Thanks for the response.
  4. Washer nozzle valve replacement - wrong size?

    R/C107 SL/SLC Class
1987 560sl. The pictures show the issue. The original, old and broken heated valves that plug in to the hood washer nozzles have a very thin metal rod at their core (bottom 2 units in pics). The replacement has a thicker tube in the same position (top 2 units in pics). There is no way to get...

I needed front shocks on my '87 560sl, so I bought front and rear new Bilsteins. When I removed the rear shocks, I was surprised to find that they were almost new. Pics attached. The fronts were quite old. I went ahead and installed the new ones I had bought. Part numbers on the ones I...
  8. Introduction - out of lurk mode

    R/C107 SL/SLC Class
I've been lurking for a few months since I purchased my '87 560sl, so I figured I would introduce myself. I lurk and post on several other automotive sites under the same name - fjinva. I'll post some pics of my 107 once I move them over from my phone. The car is diamond blue with blue...
  9. Fuel sender repair

    R/C107 SL/SLC Class
I figured I would close out my portion of this excellent thread, which has been very helpful. I tried to get the sender back in working condition. That small nichrome wire would not let me solder or keep from doing more harm. I ended up buying a new one for less than $200 on Amazon "Mercedes...
  10. Fuel sender repair

    R/C107 SL/SLC Class
Thanks everyone for the responses. I tried to solder that original wire and it would not take the solder, as mentioned above. I spent a lot of time and took a lot of care while trying to get the wire back in place. The bottom plastic holder eventually melted with the heat. I finally gave up...
  11. Fuel sender repair

    R/C107 SL/SLC Class
On my '87 560sl, I was getting erratic fuel level readings. There was no reading when first started. The gauge would then activate after about 5 minutes of driving. The gauge activated more quickly when full of near full. It took longer the lower the tank. So, I took out the sending unit and...
