  1. Does anyone use their headlights washers?

    General Mercedes-Benz
I can only imagine using them if you're driving on roads where the headlights get horrifically muddy or fully covered in bug splatter! Which I'm sure can happen... somewhere. But I've only used them a few times and can't say I noticed any difference. After finding a leak in the hose coming off...
  2. Large Dash Displays

    General Mercedes-Benz
I'm still a fan of being able to navigate the instruments (including the audio system) by feeling the controls with your fingers. Then you don't even have to take your eyes off the road. Having to not only look at and read a very detailed screen, but also touch a specific location on the screen...
  3. How are maintenance costs on Mercedes-Benz?

    General Mercedes-Benz
So... it goes like a good stink... or is that a bad stink? LOL
  4. Where are all of the spark plugs?

    General Mercedes-Benz
Maybe this will be useful: It's more of a slide show than a video. But it does make things easier to see.
  5. Amp Removal

    W220 S-Class
Or are you referring to some other piece of equipment?
  6. Amp Removal

    W220 S-Class
Do you mean this, in the trunk? All of those type connectors have a release button to be pressed (and held) in before you can rotate the release arm.
  7. Went from 5w-40 to 0w-40 by mistake. Should I switch back??

    W220 S-Class
Eh? A little too warm for ye o'er there in Scotland? That's a typical day here in Texas during the summer! (Blah...Yuk... double Yuk!!) For the OP and future readers: Keep in mind, AFTER the engine has fully warned up, the outside temperature is irrelevant and you NEED to have the correct...
  8. Went from 5w-40 to 0w-40 by mistake. Should I switch back??

    W220 S-Class
Unless you're driving in sub-freezing temperatures, like -30°C (-22°F) don't worry too much about the difference between 0W40, 5W40, 10W40, 15W40, etc., As it's all 40 weight oil and good for temperatures up to +40°C (104°F) The "W" stands for Winter...not weight, and goes with the left number...
  9. Car Seat Ventilation Fans - Upgrade Options?

    W220 S-Class
I don't know about the heater element, but the fans were included. You could contact him directly from his post and ask.
  10. Car Seat Ventilation Fans - Upgrade Options?

    W220 S-Class
The fans are the same size as what's in the two-fan setup. Here's a post from a friend, Herman K, who performed the exact same fan upgrade on his SL55: https://www.benzworld.org/threads/seat-contour-lumbar-support-bladders-replaced.3017026/ He has several good photos of the fans during the...
  11. Car Seat Ventilation Fans - Upgrade Options?

    W220 S-Class
No... if you replace them one-for-one... because the Noctua fans draw less current then the stock fans (that are installed in my vehicle). The secret to the Noctua fans working better is their blade design being very specific to increase air flow and the bearing design to reduce friction. In...
  12. Car Seat Ventilation Fans - Upgrade Options?

    W220 S-Class
If you look in my earlier post within this thread, I already measured the resistance of the fans before installing them. The newer fans (made by Noctua) draw slightly less current, while still moving more air, than the stock fans. Thus you are free to replace all of your seat cushion fans...
  13. S500 lowering links issue??

    W220 S-Class
Correction of my previous post: I found the link set and instructions. The special steps required before swapping out the front links and adjusting the rear one, was make sure the suspension was in resting or park mode by doing two things: 1. Have the remote key fob completely out of range of...
  14. Airmatic problem solved

    W220 S-Class
I can certainly attest to the Chinesium crap being... crap! The previous owner of my '06 S500 (base model) replaced both rear struts with Chinesium cheap-o units the month before I bought the car. Within ONE year I had to replace one of them. 8 months later (right now) the other Chinesium crap-o...
  15. S500 lowering links issue??

    W220 S-Class
I have a set of lowering links for my '06 S500 (base model). I've not installed them, but recall the instructions saying something about needing to install them a certain way - like battery disconnected first - then put on jacks, pull front wheels and instal both front lowering links, wheels...
  16. Bluetooth Music streaming option for cars with Fiber Loop like MOST

    General Mercedes-Benz
Awesome! I would have done this...if I hadn't already ripped out the rear audio equipment in preparation for a custom system. But I know this path will make a lot of people happy. May I suggest you copy it into the Android section?
  17. Shift gear locks

    W163 M-Class
To your question, yes, most all of them have a locking mechanism. However, you're likely encountering a common issue with these gear selector boxes. There are a good number of posts about this topic, especially if you just search for "gear selector stuck in park or neutral." The problem...
  18. new 2019 560 s class. Pulse vibration on left side if car.

    General Mercedes-Benz
Sounds like it could be an issue with the suspension's active body control (ABC) system.
  19. "charlotte"and my masterpiece

    General Mercedes-Benz
Very cool. I might be interested in one of those, too. Or is that a one of a kind?
  20. Do I want this lowered suspension?

    General Mercedes-Benz
By the way, the ride quality can be significantly changed by the size/model/brand of tires you choose. Softer/quieter/taller tires will give you a smoother ride should it be too harsh on factory rubber. My W220 rode like crap... even though it had stock tires on it. I chose a quieter tread and a...
