Bit of an Update I got busy with other cars and other things lately so I have not worked on the W124 much until today. Myself and a friend dropped the valve body today on the car and replaced the springs. More or less the car shifts are way firmer and I am able to chirp the tires between gear...

Yeah. If I don’t put it in 1st it only shifts from 2 to 3 and that’s it. It never goes to top gear. Plus when I let off it engine brakes at high RPMs. Does not go to 4th and cruise smoothly.

I can count the gear shifts from stop if I have it set to start in 1st, it will only climb to 3rd. Im usually doing 3000-3500 RPM's around 50-55mph.

I will check out that datacard in the owners manual. More or less the issue is that I can kick down the car into 1st no problem. The car will shift almost smoothly for the most part 1st, 2nd, and 3rd but will never go into 4th. Cliff notes: - Replaced the Transmission Fluid and Filter about...

Vacuum lines did not resolve the issue. I am going to replace the springs in the transmission next. Can anyone tell me how to check the VIN to figure out what transmission I have in my car? Thanks in advance.

Thanks. Yes, when I find something that I do not approve of I end up taking care of it. Unfortunately it seems to be a decent amount of things on this car. Btw I see you are in Dallas. I am east of you about 1hr - 1.5hrs. I am in Tyler, Texas.

A bit of an update for anyone following this. Myself and a couple of guys have been working on the car on and off past few months when we have free time. Currently I still do not have 4th gear. I was able to get vacuum line diagrams from my local Mercedes dealership. The line that runs from...

Hello, This is what I am currently on. I have several vacuum lines that are not connected where they are suppose to be. I am working on finding where they are intended to be routed to. Is there a schematic here that maps out the vacuum lines on the gas motor? I closest one I found was a diesel.

Hey guys. Can anyone tell me where this vacuum line is suppose to go to? It is under the intake. See attached pictures.

Yes I understand that. Currently I have other issues that are more of a priority than running 100% correct fluids and filters in this car. Once I am done with cycling out the transmission fluid then I will go to Mann filters. The goal at the moment are to fix a vacuum issue that is causing...

That will be the case once I clean out the transmission with filter and fluid replacements every 500 miles for a bit. But for now I am okay with using these filters. Yea I go that route most of the time. My other Mercedes and the other vehicles I use factory equivalent parts.

I went ahead and bought a couple from FCP Euro. I will see if these are the correct gaskets. Thanks dudes.

Quick question. Where do you guys recommend to get a transmission filter and gasket from for these cars other than the dealership. I ordered 2 from Pepboys 2 seperate times and both times the gasket that showed up was not correct. It looks something like this (see attachment)

A bit of an update. I dropped the Transmission pan yesterday. I changed fluid and filter. Oddly enough, it looks like someone attempted this recently but failed when they somewhat stripped a screw that held the filter in place. Plus there was a pine cone needle hanging out of the filter. I...

I put WD-40 on it and put it back together. There seemed to be no resistance and it looked like it was working as intended. I did on the other hand pick up some ATF from Mercedes..... $20 per bottle after a discount. I’m going to drop the pan and replace the filter and fluid and this weekend...
