  1. W126 related items for sale & wanted to buy

    W126 S,SE,SEC,SEL,SD,SDL Class
The wheels that I posted before are sold, recently got a private message and I just remembered that I totally forgot to update the posting here.

  3. W126 related items for sale & wanted to buy

    W126 S,SE,SEC,SEL,SD,SDL Class
I have a set of nice 16" Epsilon Southern Ways Mesh wheels. Their specs are 16x7.5 ET+17 and 16x8.5 ET+6. They have an offset that's nice and low, perfect for W126s. The problem I faced with these wheels is that they're actually off of a Porsche. That's right Porsche bolt pattern of 5x130 and...
  4. 25mm Spacers

    W126 S,SE,SEC,SEL,SD,SDL Class
    Now that's more like it!
  5. Ford V10 into a W126 - comments?

    W126 S,SE,SEC,SEL,SD,SDL Class
I think when it comes to these engine swaps, the scariest part is always the wiring. I'm not an electrician, and I don't know anyone that knows how to do wiring harness conversions. If you do, that will probably simplify things tenfold.
  6. Project Arizona, The Rise of the Phoenix...a Wide Body story

    W126 S,SE,SEC,SEL,SD,SDL Class
Woo doggy, that is some dish! Congrats on finally coming to the end of your search! I don't understand why you period-correct guys strive for this stuff at such great lengths, but I can definitely appreciate the hard work, the endless efforts, and unfaltering determination. And, the end result...
  7. Rear SwayBar- Custom. Interest?

    W126 S,SE,SEC,SEL,SD,SDL Class
What kind of performance gains can we expect from a beefier sway bar on a W126?
  8. Timing chain snapped. What's next?

    W126 S,SE,SEC,SEL,SD,SDL Class
Thanks for the link. However, when I try to use it, I get a weird error saying "No plug-in available to display this content." What plug-in am I supposed to have downloaded for this manual?
  9. Timing chain snapped. What's next?

    W126 S,SE,SEC,SEL,SD,SDL Class
That sounds like a good point to start from. I posted this thread because I had no idea what to do after that spectacular failure. And, that seems as good as any route. I'm nervous about touching that timing chain again though. If anyone has access to any service manuals or knows where to buy...
  10. Timing chain snapped. What's next?

    W126 S,SE,SEC,SEL,SD,SDL Class
Yeah, unfortunately, that's something that I missed about the tensioner. It ended up being totally too tight. Well, I took my head to a machine shop that a mechanic friend of mine recommended. It was $45 to get the head machined and cleaned and I was also quoted $150 if I included the valve...
  11. Timing chain snapped. What's next?

    W126 S,SE,SEC,SEL,SD,SDL Class
Thanks for the commiserations, everyone. Yeah, Peter R., unfortunately, I think I'm in for number 2 as well. Right now, I'm just going to take things slow and let things simmer for a while so I don't make any hasty decisions. At any rate, I'm keeping the benz. I like this car too much. It's...
  12. Timing chain snapped. What's next?

    W126 S,SE,SEC,SEL,SD,SDL Class
Could you point me in the right direction as to where to get a decent motor? I'll pm you if you don't mind? I will try and verify some time this weekend. I guess the bright side is that M103s are so common. Earlier, I was wondering if all the other M103s were compatible with the W126's. Thanks...
  13. Timing chain snapped. What's next?

    W126 S,SE,SEC,SEL,SD,SDL Class
Not really. It seemed like it was the original chain, but the chain was very tight and checked out okay. Only 109k miles on that chain before I botched it. :( Thanks for all the kind words, everyone. When I have some time, I'll probably dig a little deeper.
  14. Timing chain snapped. What's next?

    W126 S,SE,SEC,SEL,SD,SDL Class
Well, took me a while to do a head gasket job only to find out that I messed up the timing chain tensioner real bad. Timing chain snapped while backing out of the garage. Is it time for a new engine? :surrender:
  15. 1990 & 1991 300SE W126 inquiry

    W126 S,SE,SEC,SEL,SD,SDL Class
Don't even worry about difficulty parking one of these long wheel base W126s. It's easy-peasy. The steering angle that these cars have makes the turning radius very tight. In fact, the 420SEL I used to have was easier to park and could do U-turns on narrower streets that my current Camry can...
  16. Not a W126, but...

    W126 S,SE,SEC,SEL,SD,SDL Class
I bet that exhaust sounds fairly nice at WOT though, if anything.
  17. Suitable Steering Wheels for our W126: picture thread

    W126 S,SE,SEC,SEL,SD,SDL Class
I think it'd be really great if everyone could take the time to measure up their aftermarket wheels to see what the overall diameter is. It could open up some new doors to people looking to try out an aftermarket wheel! I know when I replaced a very badly torn wheel in another car, not my benz...
  18. Gaydon Meet-up

    W126 S,SE,SEC,SEL,SD,SDL Class
How much is a noticeable amount? :p Lovely cars at the Gaydon meet up, btw! I heard that StanceWorks had a meet in Gaydon too, and I was surprised to see "Gaydon Meet-up" here in the W126 subforums. But, alas, they're not the same meets but separate. :p
  19. Gaydon Meet-up

How much camber do you think is ridiculous, w126sam?
