  1. Engine does not start after a small accident

    W203 C-Class
There are no pre-fuses for the SRS system and it would not affect the engine being able to start in this model. I think this is a matter of shift linkage alignment. BTW, when you insert the key and turn it to the second position, what gear displays on the instrument cluster's MFD?
  2. Occasional Engine Stall/Restart

    W203 C-Class
I cannot believe he found no codes stored anywhere. I have yet to scan a MBZ that didn't have at least one code stored in some system. I really think this is a bad EIS, but that would be an expensive "throwing parts at it" type of fix.
  3. C230 Starting Problem on 2003 year coupe

    W203 C-Class
Check the voltage - you should have 12.5v at rest, no less than 11v when attempting to crank, and 14v at idle. If not, you have a power supply (battery, alternator, drain, etc.) problem.
  4. A/C Thermistor

    C209/A209 CLK-Class
Very strange! Did this problem just start happening, or has it been this way since you owner the car? And did you just recently acquire it? The reason I ask is because I am wondering if the previous owner had an issue with that fan not shutting off and draining the battery (a not uncommon...
  5. WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT THIS??

    C215 CL-Class
No, I'm in Birmingham, AL. I do have a side gig where I do MBZ mechanical work, but it does not "pay the bills". :)
  6. PRESAFE ARC Range

    R230 SL-Class
And if it does deploy, you must use the center console button to first "raise" it before it can be lowered. The reason why is that the mechanism that deploys it in an accident and the mechanism that allow it to be manually raised/lower get out of sync (well, there's more to it than that, but...
  7. Oil Level Sensor Bolts

    C209/A209 CLK-Class
    EPC lists it as N000000001116
  8. Car won't start. Sometimes I lose speedometer and transmission shifts, etc

    W203 C-Class
You need to replace the seals for that connector to stop the oil leak. Search "pilot bushing" for lots of info on that. You also need to check the TCU for oil intrusion. You may not see oil on the wires, but it can still "wick" into the TCU.
  9. Occasional Engine Stall/Restart

    W203 C-Class
Problems with SRS won't cause any issues with engine operation. That fault is just pending, and could be caused by the car stalling (i.e. low voltage or voltage cut-off during the stall).
  10. WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT THIS??

    C215 CL-Class
Limp mode is almost always cause by a faulty sensor on the conductor plate inside the transmission. It's a common problem on the earlier 7-speed transmission like your car has. The solution is to replace the conductor plate, but this is really a dealer-only job. The reason being is that the...
  11. Headlight height adjustment on W209

    C209/A209 CLK-Class
Welcome to the forum! There are two of those level sensors on the car - the one you found in the front, and also one in the rear. The headlight controller reads the difference in angles between the two so it can adjust the headlight aim based on how low the rear of the car is riding. These...
  12. A/C Thermistor

    C209/A209 CLK-Class
You have to disassemble the OCP to access the thermistor and the fan - it's on the underside of the circuit board. I checked EPC, and there are only two differences in the CP for a CLK55 - TeleAid or not and Sound System (i.e. Bose audio) or not. That is regardless of country
  13. Won't start 1 time out of 20

    C209/A209 CLK-Class
That would be my guess as long as the battery voltage is good (12.6v at rest, no less than 11v when engaging the starter).
  14. Car won't start. Sometimes I lose speedometer and transmission shifts, etc

    W203 C-Class
I am not familiar with the Autel unit, but there should be a way to tell it to scan the TCU. Some of those codes you posted do appear to be TCU related: http://benzbits.com/dtc/DTC_722_6.pdf This may be a bad shifter unit based on some of those codes. You should definitely align the shifter...
  15. Engine does not start after a small accident

    W203 C-Class
The shifter is both mechanical and electronic. It reports the selected gear electronically to other components in the car, but it also activates a physical linkage rod that physically shifts a lever in the transmission. Inside the transmission, that lever does two things. It electronically...
  16. A/C Thermistor

    C209/A209 CLK-Class
I believe that even if a damper flap is malfunctioning, the ACC system should work, though you may get no airflow, or air that is the wrong temperature. Here's a good thread about the thermistor: https://www.benzworld.org/threads/overhead-console-temperature-sensor.2567858/
  17. Engine does not start after a small accident

    W203 C-Class
You could try that. If the issue is that the transmission is not in park, then that should allow it to start.
  18. Engine does not start after a small accident

    W203 C-Class
There is nothing in the shifter itself that would do that. But, it is connected to the transmission via a metal shift rod that moves a lever on the transmission housing which actuates a valve and the parking pawl inside the transmission. The "Drive" position of that lever is fully forward, so...
  19. Cheap OEM Oil Filters

    W163 M-Class
Or they are just really good fakes. I've pretty much stopped buying any new critical parts on Amazon or eBay as they are full of fakes. There was a guy on the W209 forum who bought a Bosch MAF sensor on Amazon. It did not work. He then bought the same Bosch MAF sensor from a reputable Euro...
