  1. Carbon diposits in oil filter

    W124 E,CE,D,TD Class
Another guess on my part. Burned oil deposits from the piston rings ground into sandy deposits by the oil pump. Try changing the oil more often, see if you get fewer deposits. That's some dirty oil, one of the worst I've ever seen.Reminds me of diesel oil.
  2. Son wrecked '95 E300D - what to do with it?

    W124 E,CE,D,TD Class
I doubt you could buy another vehicle that nice for what it would cost to repair it..
  3. turn signal issue

    W124 E,CE,D,TD Class
Check you main light switch, the headlights switch. Aren't those lights used as emergency safety signals in Europe? Turn the switch to the left, and they come on as I recall.
  4. Passenger capacity/size compared to W212.

    W124 E,CE,D,TD Class
Smart guy, get the Toyota. (y) The W140 is for people that use it for a second vehicle, or have the time, skills and money to keep them up. Here in the USA they are relatively plentiful, cheap, and rebuildable if not already refurbished. I doubt that is the situation in your part of the world...
  5. Passenger capacity/size compared to W212.

    W124 E,CE,D,TD Class
Crack heads, ha, ha, ha... Yea, Smart Guy, get that W212, or a Kia, or Hyundai, or Genesis, they all look the same. The Classic Mercedes look was lost after the W140. The year 2000 ushered in the accountant built Benz with the merger of MB and Chrysler, need I say more? If electronics is your...
  6. Passenger capacity/size compared to W212.

    W124 E,CE,D,TD Class
Smart Guy, if you could snatch up one of these W140's for near $20k USD, and it was completely sorted, I'd highly recommend you do the deal. They are THAT nice! If that isn't practical, then I'd advise you to keep that W124 and do whatever you must to keep it running. IMHO the 124 is one of the...
  7. Vibration and hum changing with vehicle speed

    W124 E,CE,D,TD Class
You didn't state the mileage on the vehicle. Motor mounts, tranny mount, flex discs, carrier bearing, for sure. I'm not exactly familiar with your model, but in a general way you are on the right track. Don't let this get to the point where this stuff comes apart at speed, it makes a mess...
  8. Guess that Fluid!

    W124 E,CE,D,TD Class
    Nasty coolant.
  9. Removing Oxygen Sensor open end or box end?

    W124 E,CE,D,TD Class
My vote if for the special O2 socket. Cheap and easy.
  10. Right brake light

    W124 E,CE,D,TD Class
It took me an hour, but I found my old thread about this ground issue that Flooby and others fixed for me.WITH PICS! Click the header link. https://www.benzworld.org/threads/94-e320-blinking-dash-lights.1835282/post-6985906
  11. Help reading plugs to find leaky injector

    W124 E,CE,D,TD Class
So this is what So this is what plugs look like from a 300K mi Benz! That is a whole lotta deposits, how many miles on this set? 20-30K?
  12. Help reading plugs to find leaky injector

    W124 E,CE,D,TD Class
Ha, ha, ha... That's how you know Brit cars and Harleys have oil in them, when they are spotting the cardboard/floor under them. I've seen vehicles that had so much oil pouring out the rear main, it made the clutch slip on a stick shift, and another time the oil coated the tranny and drive shaft...
  13. What is the name and part number of this particular item metal bracket and how to remove it from the transmission?

    W124 E,CE,D,TD Class
What are your symptoms that lead you to think this part is faulty? Is the shifter not engaging the gears? Hard to move the shift lever?
  14. Help reading plugs to find leaky injector

    W124 E,CE,D,TD Class
The ONLY semi-normal looking plug is #3 from the left. #1 and #2 look to be a tad fuel fouled, the black deposits indicate you aren't getting a full/clean burn in those cylinders. Those are the ones I'd suspect for bad injectors, especially #2. And ALL of them appear to have what looks like...
  15. Hiccup in M104

    W124 E,CE,D,TD Class
That sounds like a coil symptom.
  16. Power loss as (electrical?) components warm up

    W124 E,CE,D,TD Class
What gets hot when the engine warms? Catalytic converter- when is runs poorly rev the engine to see if exhaust is fully open. Distributor cap - OEM isn't MB. I've read about cracked caps right out of the box Coils - heat kills coils or whatever electronic device is used in these M103...
  17. Power loss as (electrical?) components warm up

    W124 E,CE,D,TD Class
Is this a model with a FUEL DISTRIBUTOR? Fuel pressure loss? Does it burn oil? Plugs looked good? Did you happen to run a full compression check, hot, cold, wet, dry? Fuel filters clogging? Changed the fuel accumulator with the pump? The misfiring sounds like Cap/Rotor, moisture issue..
  18. W140 Buyers guide

    W140 S-Class
Great write up about the W140's. I suggest also, if you have the time, do the research about the author, Jean Pascal Remon. He is a candidate for "The World's Most Interesting Man". The Most Beautiful World. Composer-Electronic Dance Music, published author, photographer, traveling the planet...
  19. New look and feel of this forum

    W124 E,CE,D,TD Class
I certainly enjoyed the "Classic" version. It offered quick access to the info that mattered. I think this latest change was about making more space on servers.Less info displayed on a page? New isn't always better, and old people don't like change. :poop:
  20. What did you do with/to your 124 today?

    W124 E,CE,D,TD Class
I Totally Agree! Ceramic coating seems to have some properties that I personally find very attractive. #1 is the fact that you no longer need to wax the car. #2 is the idea that you wash the car with water, no soap. #3 is the idea that nothing sticks to it, bird droppings, bee...
