  1. Axle Replacement

    W211 E-Class
Axle? You mean differential? Those show up all the time and are fairly cheap $100-300 usd. Get one from Texas or California. The diffs shouldn't have a rusting issue inside unless someone took it through a deep water and got moisture inside.

    W251 R-Class
if you are looking at ebay- there are xenons which are not bi-xenons. All Hella manufactured ones should be bi-xenons. Then, you car is either got ride height or not. You can go Euro or USA interchangeably. early vs late have different connector pinnings. But you can probably re-pin or...

    W211 E-Class
There are plenty of OE parts being made in China- but there is process, inspection and quality of Mercedes behind it. agreed whole heartedly about the China parts. Didn't realize G05 was common. Worked on quite a few O6's and they all have G48 which lasts 15 years and the makeup chemical pack...
  6. Just did coolant flush on E320 CDI - some observations

    W211 E-Class
Just a few note- and first and thank you! What hoses have been discontinued? First comment for those using this as a reference. I believe that G48 is the correct coolant. Secondly, Aftermarket Behr is aftermarket. They do not utilize the OE tooling... World has changed at Behr since being...
  7. Oil Change Using Total 5w40

    W211 E-Class
Use what you want. Not going to get in an oil war - My motor is quieter and oil consumption decreased vs using the Total 0W30. Been running it for 2.5 years and about 30,000 miles. Came highly recommended by a MB independent shop.

    W211 E-Class
Never responded- but yes it's different. I believe it's tuned with the engine mounts to minimize vibration. Ya got 450,00 miles to the first one- why worry and simply buy another one. There are penty of dealers which sell online at wholesale pricing. Michael

  11. Looking at buying a 2009 E350

    W211 E-Class
Short answer- find lubricant products which meet MB spec. Mb has spec sheets on the internet for all fluids. If you haven't found a online mb dealership- I have been using Husker with lots of success. If there is a question on what fluid to use, OE stuff is always good. I've been using...
  12. Down 1 1/2 Quarts of Oil

    W211 E-Class
FYI, I generally only fill to the mid point between min and max. Add one quart. Generally depending on the MB engine- they burn between max and min pretty quickly. What oil brand and weight are you utilizing? Perhaps a more stable oil or one of a thicker viscosity could be considered...
  13. 05 W211 e320 CDI headlight wiring question

    W211 E-Class
Yes you can- doesn't have to be a water-tight crimp as the harness to the bulb is inside the housing.
  14. 2006 E320 CDI - Refurbishing my beloved ride. Looking for things I might miss.

    W211 E-Class
I think these cars at higher mileage might need new diff bushings and/or subframe. I would think that something has settled or worn through the years and if you bring it back to proper position- the vib will go away. If you are looking for a driveshaft- I think there was a guy on fleabay...

I know there is quite a few of these on the list- I purchased one for my wife a few years ago and it's been a fantastic car. So, I found a second one for myself to replace a vehicle which was badly damaged in an accident. I am not to the liking of the soft ride and want to do some...
  17. Aux battery for SBC

    W211 E-Class
There is a relay which is close by under the windshield wiper trough. I think MB updated it. It's 002 p/n and approximately $125ish. It sounds like yours has failed and isn't charging the aux battery?
  18. W211 Heated Rear Seats Parts needed

    W211 E-Class
Very cool- PM me with your other set of parts. I'm game, but what did you do for the seat heating element? I found the switches in the EPC- couldn't track down the harness. Cannot seem to find all the part numbers necessary.
  19. w211 e320 cdi driver headlight not working

    W211 E-Class
The pigtail bulb connectors the wire insulation degrades with time and heat. MB makes a replacement which is $6 or so which you can use crimp butt splices. That's usually the issue and solution. Some ppl tape or apply liquid insulation to the wires. But the wires short, then you get zero...
