  1. 95 TE 300k rear subframe rebuild

    W124 E,CE,D,TD Class
Man, that's nasty. Judging by the amount of rust I simply have to ask. Who is the U boot commander???
  2. 722.4 ATF specs

    W124 E,CE,D,TD Class
Stick with good known quality brands. The best overall is Mobil ATF D/M, and this is also what MB dealers supply since MB no longer sells the proper spec fluid. And do NOT use synthetic ATF whatsoever. https://mobiloil.com/en/automatic-transmission-fluid/d-m-atf
  3. Anyone know the best method for posting pics from a phone?

    W124 E,CE,D,TD Class
Maybe so, but using a 6 inch screen isn't my idea of surfing the web.
  4. Anyone know the best method for posting pics from a phone?

    W124 E,CE,D,TD Class
Easiest IMO is using the cloud. Take pic. Then using a desktop PC, just drag and drop. Done.
  5. E 300 diesel estate – S124 – 1996

    W124 E,CE,D,TD Class
All twin cam engines in the W124 range suffered from eco junk wiring, regardless if it is petrol, diesel, HFM, etc. The eco junk misery was a MB that appeared on ALL MBs from the early 1990s through about 1997, no matter if you had a bottom feeder C class or a V12 S class or anything in...
  6. E 300 diesel estate – S124 – 1996

    W124 E,CE,D,TD Class
Flip key as in the key blade folds into the black plastic body akin to VW/Audi/Skoda keys. Truth be told, this system was MB keyless entry 1.0. The plastic body tends to wear out. cause the key blade to get sloppy or even fall out. Suggest you just get some spare standard key type...
  7. malfunctioning mono-wiper sticks at 45deg

    W124 E,CE,D,TD Class
You have to remove the complete wiper transmission from the vehicle (see link). http://www.peachparts.com/Wikka/W124BlowerMotor Chances are the grease has turned to rock after 25+ years causing the transmission to lock up. Clean, and relube with MB gleitpaste or a heavy duty marine grease such...
  8. Winnipeg area only .

    W124 E,CE,D,TD Class
Wrong forum guy. This forum is for the E class cars made from the mid 80s through mid 90s
  9. W124 auto trans oils whats heaviest grade

    W124 E,CE,D,TD Class
In that case, it is vital that you check the current fluid condition on the dipstick first. If it doesn't look cherry red, beware. And if the fluid appears dark, do NOT change the fluid at all. Otherwise, you risk the transmission failing almost immediately.
  10. W124 auto trans oils whats heaviest grade

    W124 E,CE,D,TD Class
One more thing. Be sure to only use a top quality Dexron IID fluid, such as Fuchs Titan 3000 Also, what is the service history on your transmission? These cars require regular trans fluid and filter changes. Ideally every 25K miles, 30K miles max.
  11. W124 auto trans oils whats heaviest grade

    W124 E,CE,D,TD Class
The only proper spec fluid is Dexron IID or (Dexron III). Using anything else is asking for major trouble. Start by draining the trans fluid (trans body + torque converter), install a new MB filter and pan gasket and refill. Then report back. Do NOT powerflush the transmission under any...
  12. 1995 w124 E320 won't start again when its warmed up

    W124 E,CE,D,TD Class
Hard to get at??? Come on now, you take the Ohms readings at the plug end of the crank sensor located inside the fake firewall next to the diagnostic socket.
  13. 1995 e320 no start

    W124 E,CE,D,TD Class
Hmmm. This is a wild guess, but you should verify the drains. Pour water into the battery tray area and observe if and how fast the water wicks away. Also verify that said water goes into the drain holes. IF water is allowed to pool, that might explain the rust inside your OVP. Clogged...
  14. 1995 e320 no start

    W124 E,CE,D,TD Class
If the battery splash shield is properly installed, water ingress (into the OVP) should be nil
  15. 1995 e320 no start

    W124 E,CE,D,TD Class
Sounds like you dodged the bullet, but me thinks that your welder was not grounded properly to cause all that. At least you got off relatively easy.
  16. 124 300TE ball joints welded to control arm or replaceable?

    W124 E,CE,D,TD Class
The M103 W124s all came with replaceable ball joints from the factory. However, we need to define "replaceable". The joints are a press fit, and the arms are designed to take at least 1 possibly 2 replacements without issue. BUT they are not designed to be reused infinitely.
  17. 124 300TE ball joints welded to control arm or replaceable?

    W124 E,CE,D,TD Class
That is not 100% correct. The A arms with welded in ball joints first appeared in the V8 cars, well before the phase 3 cars (a.k.a. facelift) hit the scene
  18. 1995 e320 no start

    W124 E,CE,D,TD Class
Very strange. Besides trying a healthy donor battery, double check your ground straps to make sure they're clean and circuits aren't jumping path (which might explain the blown fuse and other strange behavior) If I'm reading this right your OVP got blown during the time the car was down and...
  19. Fuel Lines **Part Number Help Needed**

    W124 E,CE,D,TD Class
I don't believe the p/n#s are the same. However, you can reman your existing lines IF you can get the ends off without scouring or damaging the end pieces in any way. Then all you need is to splice in a top quality high pressure fuel hose.
  20. Replacing 02 sensor with universal four wire sensor?

    W124 E,CE,D,TD Class
LOL. These cars are strictly pre OBD2. Multiple O2 sensors only came around well into the OBD2 era.
