  1. Revisiting the past - 1973 450SL

    R/C107 SL/SLC Class
Maybe they are the same just not painted. Sorry I took so long to reply. I have no idea if these are original to either of the 2 that became the one I now care for. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’ll post 1 tomorrow night just out of town for the weekend. Would rather be in the Benz, but it’s not on the road right now Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Revisiting the past - 1973 450SL

    R/C107 SL/SLC Class
I have a set on my 77, but they don’t look like that. Don’t know why but I love the look of these cars with caps, full ‘Merican bumpers, and the double headlights. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That is one great car. Are they hubcaps, or some wheel I’m not aware of? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Speaker cover installation... New Tool!

    R/C107 SL/SLC Class
Ok, this is tremendously helpful. Anybody have a source for the clips? I also find a generous application of the Credit card tool at the local liquor store can be very therapeutic. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Hard brake lines size?

    R/C107 SL/SLC Class
So, my lines are run. 10 flares and 1 leak, so I’m happy for a first timer. They aren’t pretty, or perfect but they work. If I were to do this again, and I think I will for the fuel lines I would get a better flaring tool. This one did what was asked of it, but was awkward and unwieldy at times...
  7. Uhh..What is This? (Help ID a Part.)

    R/C107 SL/SLC Class
So, I have a few of those in similar shape. I am afraid to touch most of them. Is there a replacement in a more modern piece of equipment? I am not terribly worried about keeping everything stock, so if there is something better, I’m in. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Hard brake lines size?

    R/C107 SL/SLC Class
I know it’s been a while, but thank you for the info. I got the tubing, Ni-cop, and fittings. Just finishing my Kitchen re model, and hopefully starting the lines next week. I’ll let you all know how it works out. Oh, I have a harbor freight flaring set, and bender, so I’ll add a review of...
  9. Hard brake lines size?

    R/C107 SL/SLC Class
1977 450sl sprung a leak in a hard line while sitting in the garage. Looking to replace as many as I can. Most cost effective way would be to get tubing, and bend and flare them all myself. Not worried about doing this, but want to get the right size tubing, and connectors. Anyone know off hand...
  10. 107's in movies and television

Just caught an R107 in episode 7 season 3 of Stranger Things on Netflix. It’s silver and belongs to the Mayor. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Normal for a fuel line??

    R/C107 SL/SLC Class
Just removed the rear left wheel. I am trying to find and fix a leak in the brake lines. I think this is gonna be a big job. Tracing the line from the caliper back, and I noticed something a little strange. It looks like a return line for the fuel system. It looks like a hardline across a gap...
  12. Headlight replacement then nothing

    R/C107 SL/SLC Class
Ok just reread my own post. When I stated that the brights worked I meant the Fog Lights. Still nothing from the headlights or brights. I hate typing with a thumb on a phone. I got the lights through Amazon and would be really surprised to find out they are all bad. Has anyone upgraded their...
  13. Headlight replacement then nothing

    R/C107 SL/SLC Class
So I replaced both headlights and hi beams. Before this job I had one working headlight, both brights lit but not very bright, and one of the fog lights worked. Replaced with Wagner H5006 and Phillips H5001 C1. While I was at it I removed the full assemblies and painted them dark Gray, I...
  14. What have you done to your R107, TODAY ...

    R/C107 SL/SLC Class
Headlights removed. Entire lighting assembly removed. Fixed the plastic brace that holds the pins in place, where it was cracked across the middle. Removed the light buckets and ground down the rust. Wiped it all down and painted the buckets with a high heat primer, and the assembly with POR 15...
  15. No welding rust repair???

Awesome write up. Thanks a bunch. Your photos give me much hope, that I can do this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. No welding rust repair???

    R/C107 SL/SLC Class
I believe in modern technology. My R107 is safely described as rusty. I am wondering how many of you out there may have tried some of the various rust repair methods that don’t require welding? Have you tried the epoxy methods to attach 2 non structural panels? Have you used the “Magic Paint”...

    R/C107 SL/SLC Class
So, yes it’s rusty!! I am wondering about all of the new fangle rust repair methods that don’t require any welding. I am a lot of things, but so far I am not a welder. Gonna start a new thread. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    R/C107 SL/SLC Class
Hello all, I have posted a couple of times before but with the weather getting better here in Grand Rapids, I’m back out playing with it. It is a 1977 450SL. Best I can tell it has been pieced together from 2 other cars, or is in its 3rd coat of paint. Now it’s black, but some spots show yellow...
