I worked above the engine compartment, of course the compressor and AC tubing bolts were removed & assembled from bottom side. AC compressor long bolts will need rubber bands to hold them, otherwise they do not stay at their place. You have to remove the aluminium AC hose fixing adapter from top of the AC compressor, otherwise the old oil does not come out from the AC compressor.
In 2012 you removed your compressor. I have a 86 560sl that I want to upgrade the Freon on and i was told you need to drain the old oil and install new. The compressor is deep in the engine compartment. Did you take it out from above or below?
