  5. Which SL 500 Model Year to choose (95,97,99)

    R129 SL-Class
I prefer my cars to appreciate rather than depreciate and with the C107 I'd say you can't go wrong. My particular favorite? The high compression/revving v-8 hooked to a manual transmission, not your grandpa's sl. All for $8 to $20k...

    R129 SL-Class
My to "after the fall" cars R129 and my s430 (w220) both were disappointments, the r129 materials and having part literally come off in my hands. Whereas I don't recall ever being left on the side of the road with a major "system failure" my s430 left me f'kd for $1k+ repair each time (3x...

The "Lexus Effect" of having to compete with cheap asian luxo imports is quite obvious when comparing quality my older mercs. 11. 1998 500sl no cut out/red levers for rear latches?

    R129 SL-Class
Just figured out that blown hydraulics are the root of my problem, I can't find a way to edit/delete posting from my tablet so I started a new thread on locking the hard top without hydros?
  12. Looking down hardtop with blown hydraulics?

    R129 SL-Class
Just figured out that my hydraulics are kaput. I can lock down the front latches with the wrench, and was hopping there is a way to get the other 4 to lock? They are at least an inch or 2 from engaging and they don't seem to want to get any closer?
  13. 1998 500sl no cut out/red levers for rear latches?

    R129 SL-Class
Try to get hardtop reinstalled and the instructions for manually securing the latches show a diff. Setup, I don't have the access cut out and no red latches like the ones shown here?? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=MuVH4tzV9TQ&feature=youtu.be
  14. 280SL Engine Swap for 350 V8?

    R/C107 SL/SLC Class
Motor, I had one for 10 years and if your 280sl is is the model I 'm thinking of it should be a drop in replacement. The 350sl/4 speed is a rare car, but I am not sure how rare the drive train was.
