It sounds like it could be set for degrees Celsius.
  2. Carbon diposits in oil filter

    W124 E,CE,D,TD Class
Another guess on my part. Burned oil deposits from the piston rings ground into sandy deposits by the oil pump. Try changing the oil more often, see if you get fewer deposits. That's some dirty oil, one of the worst I've ever seen.Reminds me of diesel oil.

The wire looks like a piece of a helicoil used to secure a bolt in a stripped out thread. Maybe a valve cover? Those heavy deposits appear to be caked up oil deposits that sloughed off the inside of the block, valve cover, etc. The older paraffin(wax) oils would cake up like that quite often...
  4. turn signal issue

Check you main light switch, the headlights switch. Aren't those lights used as emergency safety signals in Europe? Turn the switch to the left, and they come on as I recall.

Smart guy, get the Toyota. (y) The W140 is for people that use it for a second vehicle, or have the time, skills and money to keep them up. Here in the USA they are relatively plentiful, cheap, and rebuildable if not already refurbished. I doubt that is the situation in your part of the world...

I went to a W140, '99 S420, Smart Guy. NO REGRETS ! Several BenzWorld members recommended the W140. These are the last of the over engineered, (mostly)hand built Benz models with few electronic gizmos to fail, and it was intended to be the best vehicle ever built, spare no expense...
  7. Vibration and hum changing with vehicle speed

    W124 E,CE,D,TD Class
You didn't state the mileage on the vehicle. Motor mounts, tranny mount, flex discs, carrier bearing, for sure. I'm not exactly familiar with your model, but in a general way you are on the right track. Don't let this get to the point where this stuff comes apart at speed, it makes a mess...

Ha, ha, ha... That's how you know Brit cars and Harleys have oil in them, when they are spotting the cardboard/floor under them. I've seen vehicles that had so much oil pouring out the rear main, it made the clutch slip on a stick shift, and another time the oil coated the tranny and drive shaft...
  13. Right brake light

    W124 E,CE,D,TD Class
Flooby to the rescue(again!) This is EXACTLY what I was gonna add, Flooby's solid advice on that buss bar. I had wackadoo rear lights issues when I had just purchased my E320 back in '13. Had the bulb assy removed, resoldered, $40, and it worked like magic.I posted pics of the buss bar...
  14. What is the name and part number of this particular item metal bracket and how to remove it from the transmission?

    W124 E,CE,D,TD Class
What are your symptoms that lead you to think this part is faulty? Is the shifter not engaging the gears? Hard to move the shift lever?

The ONLY semi-normal looking plug is #3 from the left. #1 and #2 look to be a tad fuel fouled, the black deposits indicate you aren't getting a full/clean burn in those cylinders. Those are the ones I'd suspect for bad injectors, especially #2. And ALL of them appear to have what looks like...
