  1. Fixed fluttering cruise control...I think

    R/C107 SL/SLC Class
My downhill flutter still happens at times, but the constant flutter is now gone. I didn't torque the bolts super tight...just enough to compress the rubber a touch.
  2. 560 electric fan issue...

    R/C107 SL/SLC Class
I noticed earlier this year that my electric fan won't come on, and when spun by hand, has a tinking sound coming from the motor. How often do these fail, and what is the best way to check mine to see if it's the fan and not something else?
  3. Fixed fluttering cruise control...I think

    R/C107 SL/SLC Class
I've never been able to rely on the CC in my 107 due to fluttering every time I used it. A few weeks ago, I gave the unit a closer look, and noticed that the rubber dampers on the mounts had shrunk up a bit, allowing the unit to move, instead of holding it steady. I snugged the bolts up a bit...
  4. Searching for part numbers...timing chain guides

    R/C107 SL/SLC Class
Great info...thank you. This will be of great help! Looks to be a simple job...just going to need a bit of intestinal fortitude to put my hands inside it. It's nothing like what I'm used to tinkering with, and costs likely 10x the amount to rebuild if I screw it up...hence the need for the...
  5. Summers ending!!

    R/C107 SL/SLC Class
I know the feeling...not many around, and as the dealership told me the other day as they were trying to talk me into trading mine in (no thanks), there isn't another one in the area as clean as mine. I gave them my contact info, asking price, and a small list of recent maintenance done to pass...
  6. Searching for part numbers...timing chain guides

    R/C107 SL/SLC Class
1987 560sl I've been putting this off til cooler weather, and it looks like that time is near. I've searched for a kit with all needed seals, guides and whatnot, but don't really trust my Google-foo enough to be confident enough. I also don't own a proper service manual yet, so I'm coming to...
  7. Fuel system question...

    R/C107 SL/SLC Class
1987 560sl 10 or so years ago, when I originally began researching my particular issue, it was decided that I needed to replace the fuel pump check valves. I replaced those parts, and the change is minimal, at best. As fuel is used up from the tank, the tank begins building pressure, to the...
  8. OT Amazon Alexa in my 107

    R/C107 SL/SLC Class
Nice upgrade...I requested an invite for one. If it works well in the SL, then it should work great in my other vehicles.

I gave her a proper clay bar treatment using Mothers California Gold Clay Kit. She shines up pretty good. Next up...a good wax and polish job.

I ordered the right ones through the dealer...somehow, they got the right NGK plugs, which were the same number I originally ordered. The BPR plugs are in my toolbox as backups, should I ever need them.
  13. AC squeals...

    R/C107 SL/SLC Class
Is it possible to rebuild or replace the clutch with the compressor still on the vehicle? If so, could you share a link to the parts I would need to do this? I think I'm going to remove the drive belt to it for now, so long as it only drives the compressor, and isn't shared by another...
  14. AC squeals...

    R/C107 SL/SLC Class
I tracked down a squeal from under the hood to my AC compressor...it squeals when AC is off, but quiets down when its turned on. Any ideas what it could be?
  15. Visor question...

    R/C107 SL/SLC Class
PO, my FIL, had his son "fix" the mirror with gobs of glue...and he put it in upside down. It's also quite loose. I'd like to remove both until a suitable replacement is found. How far down the windshield frame is the electric connector for the vanity lights? What needs done to remove tgem?
