Sprintshift - 2004 - Problem

Hello all, I need your advice please. I have a 316CDi, 2004, Sprintshift, 42,000 miles. The problem is that it will go from "A" Sprintshift mode into manual where a gear number is shown in the display instead of "A", usually when accelerating in 5th or 6th. On encountering the problem initially there were diagnostic fault codes so the pressure converter, boost pressure sensor and transducer wiring and plug were changed.

Cleared the fault codes but didn't solve the problem.

A diagnostic has been connected on a drive since and when the problem occurred no faults were registered or detected at all.
When it goes into manual mode it will allow me to change gears up and down through all the gears. When I slow to a stop it will automatically change down all the way to N. The van experiences reduced power - approx 2,500 revs max, there is no warning light on the dash so it's not safe-mode/limp home mode. When I turn off the engine an alarm beeps for a few seconds and after I restart the engine the fault has disappeared until the next time.

Has anybody any experience with a van with similar symptoms?

Maybe?

Hi, I now think that the loss of power is to do with loss of turbo, which results in the gearbox going from Auto to manual. Maybe it is a sort of safe mode? Anybody had a similar experience and solved the issue. Thanks

We had the same issue. The turbo solenoid had stuffed up. Dealers couldn't find the problem as they were useless. Bought one off Aliexpress for $30 instead of $400 from Dealers, it was exactly the same unit. 2 years later still going fine. Search TURBO BOOST VALVE PRESSURE CONVERTER SPRINTER FOR MERCEDES-BENZ. Yours will have a part number, be sure they are the same before ordering. I pulled our old one apart and the rubber valves were perished.

Turbo solenoid sounds like a good possibility!
