Service V280 W638

Guys

I have just been quoted 150 to service my V280 which I thought was ok..

The garage said they would change all filters, oils etc as I would expect however..

They said if I wanted the plugs changed it would cost an extra 150! He said the plugs are at best a nightmare to change and would be an hour and half labour plus 60 for the plugs (he wasn't sure if there are 6 or 16 in the V6).

Is he right about the plugs, are they really that difficult to change, is 150 a good price to get them changed? Could I do the myself??

Any advice

FIRSTLY.... don't apologise for being in the wrong forum.... I've had 638s and w447... they should ALL be in a vito forum ALL 3 VARIANTS.....

plus the forum should be "vito, v-class and metris" metris being the USA and other markets name for the w447 vito.

---- I agree that the asked for seems a lot excessive.. try phoning a couple of merc dealers (a proper merc dealership) and ask price with and without plugs... I have often find "other" garages to chance their arm with prices, wheras the merc dealers have a fixed (or should be fixed) price structure.

as for "wholly"... not a spelling I know.. I do know "wally" a scottish term common in london and elsewhere.... meaning idiot .. but derived from "Wally" scots for large gherkin or dill pickle (wally in london chippies) and refering to the likeness of a penis (I'd be worried if mine was green and knobbly)....

who remembers "penny onions" a term used for the large pickled onion in a chippie... they were a penny (1d) each when we were kids (and chips were 3d a large bag in newspaper)
