Well. That saved a few bucks!

Nasty whining sound from the engine bay at low rpm. Was worried. Realised it was worst when turning the wheel hard over, e.g. when parking. Went to AutoZone, bought some nice expensive Pentosin power steering fluid, topped off he reservoir, half a dozen lock to lock turns of the wheel, no more noise!

Bearing in mind the R had 45k miles on it when I bought it, has 195k miles on it now, doesn't seem too onerous to finally take care of that service item 😉

Might want to check where that fluid went...had the same issue on the wife's R500 at about 160k and found a leaking PS rack, but only after I pulled back one of the boots at the tie rod. Leaked a large amount of fluid. Just let me say it wasn't a pleasant job at all. Not terrible, but definitely not fun...

Yeah I figured I ought to look, but then again 100 ccs in 190k miles isn't bad... If it happens again soon...

You'll want to check that. Catching it now is better than waiting for it to get worse.
