2012 R350 brake lamp bulb replacement

Seems MB expects you to replace the entire tail light just because a brake light BULB goes. Photo attached shows the bulb, Holder and mount after I "disassembled" them. Before that it was a one-piece item. $35 plus shipping on line probably $50 plus tax at the stealership. Ideas anyone?

Just to close this out:
1. Couldn't find an LED bulb " squat" enough to fit in the holder.
2. A regular bulb will fit, kind of, if you pull the old one out carefully and then snip off the soldered connecting wires but leave the brass strips in place. Bend one of the strips upwards so it will contact the side of the bulb. Leave the other flat so it contacts the bottom. You'll need a "squat" bulb too to be able to wiggle it and the holder back into place.
3. As I had them I stuck with the $50 a piece OEM replacements listed as "bulb holders" on the parts list. Think of it as $45 for the holder and $5 for the included bulb and it doesn't seem quite as expensive...
