2010 R300 suspension bush refresh

Hi All,
We’ve been enjoying our 2010 w251 for nearly 5 years and at over 110,000kms I’ve only changed the front struts/bags and am about to do the rears suspension wise.

Aside from that I have just been doing basic maintenance of filters/oils etc.

The front is starting to rattle a fair bit though when going over small bumps etc and I’m thinking it’s time to replace the suspension bushes.

I’m not sure where to start though. Does anyone know of a kit you can buy or which parts are most likely to have worn and should be replaced?

Ours is a 4matic with Air suspension

Not sure if they service Australia, but these are the guys I use. Very knowledgeable, and EVERYTHING comes with a LIFETIME warranty. yes, everything...even brake pads and rotors! Check em out.

Thanks - it looks like they international shipping options as well.

Is anyone aware of common issues with bushes/parts that I should check first?

I can't link because I'm at work, but check out the "Legit Street Cars" channel on Youtube. The Vlogger was a Mercedes Journeyman(as was I) and just put out a great video on front control arm bushings, including several replacement techniques and even performance bushings. Excellent channel, very informative. He has an E55 Kompressor that is fantastically modified, a C55 and a C43 that he features. This should be all the info you need.

Granted, the R has different suspension arms, but the bushings/bearings are pressed in just the same...

Thanks for the YouTube clip. I’ll start with the control arm bushes. I’ll have a look when the rear bags arrive.

Hi Onnzo,

good to know that you are from Australia, so am I and I am in the midst of doing the same front suspension work and wonder if you could share your experience and your recommended shop for the work. I am in Sydney.

My R has a soft thud sound whenever I hit a hump or a dip.... not the metal to metal kind of sound but more like spring/rubber rebound.

Tqvm for your feedback.

I only got a chance to look at this recently and went through all the main bushes looking for wear.

All looked good except I found a torn cv boot...

Further investigation indicates the sound I’m hearing is the steering rack bushing. Will check it out after I’m back from holidays.
