Footwell lights weren't pre-wired in my car, but the cut-outs were there (not sure if this is universal across the range or Avantgarde thing), so I bought a pair of OEM footwell lights, fitted blue LEDs and wired them myself to be permanently on. That was I think three years ago and no problems so far (as in - I didn't have to replace the LEDs yet).
I considered a couple of different bulbs:
I had to make sure the "bulb" won't rotate (especially the one under the glove box), so made these clips from an old store plastic card:
Modified OEM footwell lights (only connector was modified):
This was taken three years ago, before the carbon fibre, steering wheel, instrument cluster and head unit upgrade:
In reality, the lights are much less prominent ...
As to the door handle lights - I like them
I used tiny 3mm diffused LEDs, and it is almost impossible to actually see the light source (unless one looks from about the steering wheel position facing back):
These are actuated on 58d signal, so only come on with the rest of instrument lights. The install is a bit more complicated, than the footwell lights though...
I think it works together well enough:
