Coolant Flushing

I'm slowly approaching the 240,000 km mark and besides my timely oil change, the coolant system needs to be flushed (according to owner's manual).

At this point, is it worth doing? Or is it better to wait for a cooling system related repair and to start fresh?

Otherwise everything is fine. I'm sure my mechanic will probably say to hold off. I guess depending on the molecular condition of the fluid may determine if it needs a refresh.

As an aside, but related, I've heard about automatic transmissions, from various sources, that flushing it with new fluid can make it worse. I know, they are two different systems, but could new coolant dislodge sludge build up or something similar. I think that would be reaching.

My B coolant shows that it's good for 15 years and xxx # of kilometers..

My only hope is that I can renew with the exact same 15 year coolant that came with my B....My kms are still too low..but the years are now making it due..

Does anyone here know how long the new B Class coolant is good for ?

Hello. My suggestion is firstly to do repair job. This is first time to hear about flushing and automatic problem.
In few days I'm changing thermostat so I will completly change cooling fluid.

I was referencing that some automatics (not the CVT like B200) had the need for grit in the old fluid to prevent slipping. These are most likely for the high mileage/worn transmissions. This can be because the new fluid has more lubricating qualities. Regular maintenance and ideal operating temperatures are key for any transmission longevity.
