S400 HYBIRD TURN OFF START STOP

I recently bought a 2010 S400 hybrid. And of course, the power electronic modular is broken and cost $10000 to repair. Mostly all the s400 will have this issue during the time.
There is some china updated power electronic modular for sale for $2300 and those will work. However, the car is only worth little bit over $1000 and there is no sense for spending over $3000 to repair that modular.

So the car likes to shut down itself during start stop. If we disable the start stop function, we dont need to worry the car shuts itself down during red light. However, there is no direct way to do it. Luckily, i found out a way easy and cheap to fix this issue.

The start stop function only works if the seat belt is plugged in. The ready will turn from yellow to green and the start stop will engage. If seat belt is not on, the car will not engage start stop.
So here is the place we can play some trick.

We need to wear seat belt but fool the car we dont.
So first we will unplug the cable from the seat belt buckle, so the car will think you never wear the seat belt and the start stop would never engage, you can still plug in the seat belt to the buckle, just car will think it is not plugged in. So the annoying thing is the seat belt warning and buzzer is always on. We might use an star das with developer mode to program out that warning and we are successfully disable the start stop on s400 hybrid. That is a cheap fix.

Despite the ringing in my "ears," (in internet protocol, typing in all caps is viewed as "shouting") thanks for the hint on overcoming that very expensive problem, safely.

NOTE: cmitch was able to revise the all caps in the first post to normal text. Thanks!

Membership FYI

MBUSA released two service campaigns for Power Electronics 2012080004 & 2015030006 although only 60 vehicles for one, and 1855 for the other are affected 2010-2012 S400 Hybrid owners should have MB dealer check VMI to see if your VIN is affected. If so and work has not been completed yet repair is free out of warranty/unlimited mileage.

already checked with MB and they did the campaign already. This modular is a POS that will always break. So spending $3000~$4000 on a Chinese unit or spending $10000 on MB dealer. I mean the car only worth $10000
