2007 S-550 W221 - Engine Oil Change and Air Filter repalcement

Hello all. I will be doing oil service first time on my 2007 S-550, most of the time it was done at Dealer or Indy shop.

I have few questions.

How many quarts of oil my 2007 S-550 takes? I believe my engine is M273 (273961 30 101684). Attached is data card of my car, I ran the VIN decoder.

Also, I like to change engine air filters. Is there any DIY for engine Air filters replacement?

Any feedback will be appreciated.

HADAM!

The WIS procedures state 8.5L for engine oil and filter change. I usually put right about that amount in and the level is always between the low/high marks on the dipstick.

For oil, I recently switched to Liqui Moly 2332 Leichtlauf High Tech 5W-40 Engine Oil because I live in the desert and we just don't get cold temps here. It's on the approved list as is Mobil1 0w-40. You can get either for about $35 for 5L.

dlafever, thank you for your reply on oil capacity of 8.5 quarts for 2007 M273 engine W221 S-550.

Regards to engine air filter, do you have any info on it? Is there is any DIY for it or you can direct me to some post on it.

Thanks in advance for your support.

Glad to help! For the oil it is Liters (L) not Quarts. In the end I use about 8.5L each change.

The air filter is super easy, and yes there is a DIY from the W212 forum. The procedure for the M272 (V6) and M273 (V8) engines is quite similar.

dlafever, thank you for your reply. I understand now. I have done engine air filter replacement on my 2009 E-350 W211. My 2009 E-350 has engine M272.

Thank you, I will follow same for my 2007 S-550 W221 that has engine M273.

I am all good, appreciate all your support.

Below some photos of my E-350 and S-550. V6 and V8.

Great stable of Benz you have there! I've got a similar collection with the S550, E350 and ML320 (we'll see how long this one lasts in the hands of my youngest son. )

konigstiger, thank you so much for the PDF information, I do appreciate the time you spend on this forum to help others.

These PDF are going into my Cloud archives. I was not 100% sure about the drain plug torque, but these PDF information confirmed the 30 Nm.

I really appreciate all the support I have been getting on this forum.

dlafever and konigstiger. Happy Sunday. Yesterday I was able to perform oil service for first time on my 2007 S-550. All went well. It took me about an hour to perform the service.

My 2007 S-550 took 8.5 quarts, the dip stick was showing between min and max. May be 1/2 quarts was still left in the oil filter housing etc.

All good. I will check the oil level again next weekend, if its come down then I will add the 1/2 quarts. Other wise, all good.

Thank you both (dlafever and konigstiger) for all your excellent support on this forum. You saved me about $400 and saved me from headache you get when are dealing with German shop or dealer.
