P0432 Code

Hello,
My dad has a 2006 S430 that has gotten CEL. When we pulled the codes we get the:

P0432 code - The P0432 code indicates that the efficiency for the catalytic converter on engine bank 2 is below efficiency.

This car has about 30,000 miles on it. I was surprised to see this code given the low miles on the vehicle. My first instinct is to replace or test the oxygen sensors in bank 2.

My question is, is the passenger side of engine Bank 2 for this vehicle? Any other suggestions to try first? Could this really be a bad catalytic converter after 30000 miles?

Thank you for your help.

Put can of Techron in half tank, take it on the freeway and drive like you stole it. Shifts at 5k with wide open throttle. If traffic conditions don't allow it manually shift down so you are cruising at 3k or above.

Cat is fouled up by puttering around town for 13 years never reaching self cleaning temperature.

Ahh ok, that seems like smart first option to try. This vechicle does not see a lot of highway miles, its mostly driven around town, so what you are saying could very well be true.

I will try this first before getting into replacing Oxygen Sensors.

For Techron product, is this what you are referencing to use? Techron

Thank you.

Yes, that is a product. If you run top tier gas from Chevron or Texaco product is in it already.
