Now I am taking the car to another Mercedes repair shop with the SDS diagnostic tool.
Hi, Sadly there are too many Mercedes "Specialists" out there, and you have fallen victim to one, having SDS is no guarantee you've found a good one, only time using him or recommendation by someone who has used them for a while can do that.

Conversly, if the guy doesn't have SDS it is a sign to avoid like the plague

The thing with owning SDS is it also teaches the operator about the Cars over time as I'm sure others here who own it will testify

Lets hope this guy gets you straight to your problem, let us know what the diagnosis is and we can tell you at least if it sounds feasible, but hell yeah, do as @tusabes says and un plug those door modules first......................

He currently owns a lot more Benze's than most of us ever will in our life-times, so, as such he sees a fair bit of what causes what.

I always, (well nearly always ), respect what he says, and he has been right on many occasions

HTH,

Funny you mention the cop lights in front....have a W211 in the shop for the same exact issue. Cluster going haywire, christmas light all over the place, 30 pages of no communication codes from half of the modules, other half dead.

I've narrowed it down to the cluster and EIS, according to the wiring CANBUS and eliminating the no communication modules from the communicating ones.

Since EIS is cheaper than a cluster here, I'll try that first.....lol.

EDIT: I can see how that may be taken the wrong way -- I can program EIS myself, that's why its cheaper than a cluster.

Hi,

Hmmmmm, so we know I have a working ECU with correct VIN for my W220, so if I sent you my old EIS and Key, could I get my Car back to it's original VIN, and presumably you could send me a spare key too ??????

Or can I do this soon with my current "grasshopper" learning level ??????

EMail me if ya'd rather

Update - after getting the car back from the first mechanic with no SDS tool but I can see that he check all the Sam Modules to verified everything that I have already done. So I decided to drive the car around and now I have a new problem after he told me that my ignition is bad. My new problem is that error saying "Battery need recharging" then cluster blink on and off and eventually goes out right before I get the Coolant Temp High. I pulled off the side of the road and car died and battery is completely dead. I got a jump from a nice stranger and got the car going again then same error "Battery Recharge" and car died. I towed the car back to my house and it turn back on fine, weird? Put a volt meter on and battery seem to be charging as I am getting 14.4V while idle. I am pulling the door module out as someone suggested that is the cause of blinking lights.

I'd say check the battery... But I also feel we ruled that out.... All I can think of is that you are losing voltage somewhere and I'd be monitoring it like a hawk if I had your symptoms.

Buy a cigarette lighter voltmeter so you can watch voltage at all times

Just do the button clicking sequence and watch the voltage on the Cluster, and no I can't remember it but it will be in the Encyclopaedia, IIRC this can be done on HVAC Panel as well ??
