How to remove the Side Mirror Housing (with electric folding mirrors).

Hello:

I have read many of the posts on this forum and the mbworld, but its all very confusing.

Some people say its wrong/right.

I think the reason is that they are confusing the electrical with non-electrical folding mirrors.

These are the posts I have:

2000-2002 S500 Side Mirror Led Light Upgrade Before And After Picts - MBWorld.org Forums

I dont understand where the clip is located to release the housing and in which direction to move it...

Why not try pushing up and then down and see which is the most effective.

I got it off!

These are the steps:

1. Set the mirror ALL the way to the UP position.

2. Using a strong falshlight, aim to the LOWER RIGHT corner of the mirror, you will see the clip indicated in this post.

3. With a flat blade screw driver, push the clip UPWARDS, this will free the mirror housing.

4. Now, set the mirror in the "middle position (UP-DOWN) and the ALL the way INWARDS.

5. Then slide the mirror housing out! (using both hands).

Thanks to all.

I take it you had selected the right side mirror with the control at the driver's door? If so and it still won't move, I would suspect a wiring problem - which, unfortunately, could be anywhere from the driver's Door Control Module; or at the point where the wiring harness gets flexed regularly by opening and closing the passenger door; or at the mirror assembly itself.
