Instrument Cluster Recall - S Class

Found this info. Don't have exact info to what manufacture years are impacted.
Anyone have more info or can confirm?

==========================================

Corrective Action: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER MODULES. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON JUNE 10, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT MERCEDES-BENZ AT 1-800-367-6372.

Units Potentially Affected: 36911

Or has anyone phoned the Merc number or asked their dealer?

Seeing mine today because yesterday I got hit by a police car! Well to be strictly correct, he was in high-speed mode, siren on, blue lights flashing coming towards me at mach 2.8 when his blue light assembly came off the roof and crashed in to the front of the S class I've only recently bought. Damage not too bad and they've said they'll pay for it. Still upsetting on a nearly new car. Then I found they were chasing to save a child stuck in the mud on nearby marshes. Put my minor mishap in perspective.

Yes. As I understand it recalls are for everyone affected wherever you bought the car.

Thumbs up Recieved Recall Notice

On Tuesday, 3 October I recieved the recall notice for the Instrument Cluster for the 2000 to 2004 S-class. I had the cluster replaced previously, and retained the reciept from the replacement. The Service manager gave me a copy of my reciept and utilize the originals to mail into MBUSA for refund. I should recieve a full reimbursement within 4 to 6 weeks.

Please contact the NHTSA if you are experiencing this problem

PLEASE file a complaint with the NHTSA at www.NHTSA.gov

Mercedes is only convering a SMALL percentage of cars who have the defective units. Not all 2000-2004's S class' are covered.

My 2000 S430 has a dead cluster and MB says "tough luck" you are not in the recall vin range.

What a load! If the failure mode is the same as the recalled vehicles why is it not covered?? - Mercedes being cheap again.....
