Dash rattles on W213

I took delivery on my W213 last May in Dallas. It was smooth and quiet on the roads around the dealership. Once I got it onto the “chip & seal” roads of East Texas where I live, though, i found that it had numerous little rattles. A couple of trips to the dealer solved some, but not a pesky rattle in the dash. I finally got desperate and surfed YouTube until I found a video that showed how to remove and replace the display screens. I didn’t need to replace the displays, but the video showed me that the large insert of mesh screen on top of the dash over the steering wheel just pops out. I quickly identified that mesh panel as the rattle culprit. What it consists of is a molded plastic grid with mesh stretched and folded over it. A $3 roll of 1/4” thick self-adhesive foam weather-stripping from Lowe’s later, and the dash rattle is gone. FINALLY! I still have a little rattle in the driver’s door to be adddressed by the dealer, but a quiet dash on bumpy roads is awesome. A $60,000+ car shouldn’t have these issues.

that's what a warranty is for. I had annoying squeaks coming from my seat belt buckles and ended up having both replaced under warranty. The new ones came with felt glued on in a certain area, so Mercedes knew of this issue.

My wife's '17 E300 had the same problem. The dealer kept it for 2 days and fixed the dash rattle....for the most part. Every now and then, it still rattles.
