2010 W212 M271 Coolant flush procedure

Hi all,

I intend to replace the coolant in my 2010 E250 CGI 1.8 Turbo M271 engine.
Could somebody please tell me whether there is a bleeder valve on the top of the engine at all?
Is there a drain plug on the engine block?
If the radiator drain plug is the only way to drain the coolant, I am not happy with that design.

Thanks

Milo

Welcome to the forum. It appears that your model is not available in the US. Since you did not post your VIN, I Used the generic search feature in WIS and found the attached procedures. There appears to be a drain on the block and you will need some specialized equipment to do an exact factory fill and drain.

Good Luck,

Bob

Opening block drains can open whole can of worms, while you still have good amount of coolant left in in the passages.
In US Walmarts sells Distillate Water for 80 cents a gallon, so I buy 4-6 gallons of it, drain old coolant at radiator plug, refill with DW, drive for few miles, drain, refill and depends on contamination repeat 3-4 times and at the end I put 1 gallon of MB coolant and top if off with DW.
I live in cold climates, so getting 50% coolant dilution is not necessary, so using 1 gallon standard bottle of coolant makes what it makes.
Beware that those models do have chem pack in the system, who needs to be replaced as well. In US it comes build-in at coolant reservoir, so whole new reservoir is needed.
