Question on driveshaft center supports:

Driveshaft center support Part numbers:
2114100181 - pre facelift Gasser w211's, numerous other late 90's early 2000's S's,C's,CLS's,E's.
2114100281 - post Facelift gasser and diesel W211's, Most facelift AMG models.
2114100381- only 2005-2006 CDI's?!?!?!

Does anyone know the difference between these part numbers?! Is there actually any difference? or is this yet again another case of Daimler taking the same part and slapping 10 different part numbers on it to artificially lower supply and raise prices?

i find it hard to believe that the driveshaft support, THAT ALL USE THE SAME BEARING MIND YOU, are different for all these cars?? (i have confirmed that, all of these cars listed above all use the same 0089814325 bearing)

Never responded- but yes it's different. I believe it's tuned with the engine mounts to minimize vibration. Ya got 450,00 miles to the first one- why worry and simply buy another one. There are penty of dealers which sell online at wholesale pricing.

With global economy of last generation, MB is seeking parts suppliers all over the World and they did have some ops, like harmonic balancers in late 1990's, window sliders, gromets and such.
Each time they change supplier for the part, the part number gets changed.
I had parts who had 6 different numbers assigned over the years.
Bottom line, even if the part has the same psychical shape, the older number could have inadequate material strength.
