2006 E500 Sedan Shocks, suspension

Hello all,

at 180K miles, I should have easier expectations, but I have always loved my car, and love driving it. Engine is great, transmission is great, all systems are great, maybe some AC less sharp, maybe stereo speakers less perfect, but overall it is still excellent. Mostly garage kept, all MB Service done at dealer, details done once a year or more, etc.

I think this might be the classic, slow degrade over time, but The suspension has bothered me for a while, and dealer does not come forward with the whole picture like you guys have with other similar models - that is, at this age/miles, you need to have many things replaced to get that ride back. I don't know every part, and don't know every part that may be needed, but;
What is good estimate for dealer work, or perhaps a really high quality MB workshop in our area, what pricing should I expect for ;
4 New shocks
Controller arms
struts, Does my car have actual struts?
springs? Do these ever need replacing?
Check steering, rack, joints,
CV joints? etc. regarding steering linkage items assess for long term use

Well,what do you think a really good project to install new parts for suspension, front and rear should entail, and pricing?

Thanks alot

Assuming your car has airmatic itís not hard to replace the from shocks, rear is a bit harder.

Iíve done the front on my e500 very simple, also done all the control arms ball joints, steering rack arms. Itís all manageable if youíre hands on and have the tools. MB workshop will charge you probably $4,000+ with genuine parts
