Timing Chain Tensioner Question

When replacing the timing chain tensioner, is it just a "pull out the old one-put in the new one job"? Or do I have to do something else after in regards to the timing/timing chain?

2003 E320, 122k miles, makes tapping sound when load is put on the engine, but smooth at idle and when rev'd...

Thanks, J

Check your oil pressure first. There's an O ring between the oil pickup tube and pump which is known to fail on the M112 and M113 engines. These cars didn't get an oil pressure gauge or warning light from the factory. When the O ring fails you have no way of knowing until the engine starts to make strange noises.

Does this o-ring go on the filter housing? or is this a different ring? Sorry for my confusion

I think he's talking about the pickup tube which carries the oil from the bottom of the pan to the oil pump.
