Unhappy Mysterious key fob issue

Button to lock the doors has been acting peculiar in that it is intermittently failing to work occasionally at any range despite the unlock & trunk buttons working immediately when pushed w/o fail. The batteries in key fob were changed about a year ago. The length of time holding button down to get it to engage gradually increased until it just finally stopped working alltogether. This lasted about a week but now it's back to working again as it's supposed to after gradual less & less time of holding it down required for desired effect. It's now back to instantaneous performance like unlock & trunk buttons. The fob is undamaged externally & treated like a prized jewel so truly a mystery as to what is occurring here.

Can you try using IR?

Aim key at little square black spot on door handle and try.

Replace your batteries. I had similar symptoms, new batteries took care of them.

Yes, even with fob right next to that little square cut out on door handle (practically touching it), no joy... had to use blade key to lock but now it's back to working again like nothing ever happened. Very odd.

Thanks, I will... Luckily, dealership replaces these batteries free of charge here in my town so no reason not to at least do it to eliminate that possibility + never miss an opportunity to walk through showroom & look at all the new eye-candy on way to parts boutique.
Noodles and hangit like this.
