P20CC-08 error code, abs and esp dash warnings

2004 e320 4matic wagon, sbc replaced ~3 years ago by local dealer (ripoff artist we no longer frequent, we go 70 miles up the road now) with a story similar to other frustrated w211 sbc sagas told here.

Trying to figure out what's going on.

Took it to O'Reilly's, they used Bosch obd 1300 and after some fiddling the counter clerk got it to display

"
P20CC-08 'Rough road detection' signal (by comparing wheel speeds) :Speed signal from control module ESP implausible /Read out fault memory of control unit ES
"

I get white ABS and ESP errors on the dash at engine start. Steering is a little heavy, brakes are a little heavy but nowhere near as bad as when the SBC went completely belly up a couple of years ago.

Any help would be appreciated. Is this a diy moment or a get thee to a trusted dealer moment?

In the past I've done basically all maintenance myself. But these newer cars seem to be designed deliberately to require the dealer ripoff artists to stay running past end of warranty. Which is why I bought a W210 after our experience with this lemon.

my wild guess is reluctor ring of rear speed sensor, it is VERY prone to fail...

if you would have decent indy nearby and/or bought your own SDS W211 is much better car than W210... sadly it also shows how greedy Dealers are, how overpriced their 'branded service' is...

-Do not try this at home -

Where is that reluctor ring? Inside the differential housing? How hard is it to replace?

You should get your own code reader that does MB specific codes. I think a lot of people like the icarsoft. It's around $150.

The Autel MD 802 full car system model will do a better job for this and in the long run. I have ditched the icarsoft II unit due to wrong codes and no live time drive data which the Autel has for all functions.

What live data have you found useful? I still have my X431, updated the software and now it offers live data but haven't played around with seeing which one is useful. The price of that system has gone way up. Got mine for $30 a few years ago and now I see it's in the $200 range on aliexpress. It used to be flaky though, I see they have a DIY version (diaglink) on Amazon for $99 so I guess that's a better price than the icarsoft anyway.

The live data has been used to check O2 sensor voltages, lean/rich fuel trims, ABS data and other items.

It stores it for review later on the device or on a PC.

Just received Autel MD802, but can't connect/plug OBD II cable to the car. Do i need an adapter for W211?
I have no problem connecting/plug other scanner(autolink 319) to it.
The only difference between the two cable is that autolink 319 cable don't have pin 1,3,8,9,11,12,13, compare to MD802 all 16 pin.

That is very odd.
That is the correct plug. We just had a post in the W163 section and a new Autel owner had the same problem.

It looks like on the long end (left side of the connector in your picture) the edge is bowed in a little bit. That was
the same thing we noticed in the W163 section. Have you tried to contact Autel?

The last page of this thread shows a similar issue.

I just bought an Autel MD805 last week and it fits perfectly into my 07 E550, 09 E350 and my 97 E420.
