Thanks for the responses and mileage posting.

I'm going to assume everything is functioning properly and go ahead with doing services/maintence.

One it's caught up to my liking- I'll mess with a tuning it to perhaps improve power and economy.

A few weeks ago I set my cruise to 60mph and went 20 miles down I-5 and got 43.5 mpg (said the computer) in my 07 E320 bluetec. However, I usually get 32-35 mpg mixed driving (tank calculation) and going a more reasonable speed like 75mph. Yes its a OM642 and its fairly modified (no dpf, no egr, no swirl flaps). It has been fully serviced recently which probably helps at 103k on the clock. My friend has a fully stock 08 E320 bluetec with 120k miles and he gets mid to high 20s mpg no matter how hard he tries. I am curious shertex, how much Optilube do you add per tankful? I assume that's to keep the injection pump lubricated?

1 oz. of summer blend per 10 gallons. Mainly to lube injectors. Pump may be lubed by oil...not sure.

i've adjusted the MPG computer -12% using star so my calculated fill up MPG is DEAD ON to +.5mpg to the mpg computer. During the winter (below 32f) I get about 29-33 on the highway driving 75-80mph.
The weather just started to warm up recently, and at 45f-50f i got 37.5mpg on a 100 mile highway run. I don't doubt that when its 75f-80f I can get 38-40mpg. Thats ACTUAL mileage too, calculated the traditional way miles\gallons added.
city/highway combined driving i get 23-27mpg

I just changed all the nozzles on my injectors 2k miles ago though, so they're brand new. I should be seeing slightly better fuel economy.

John
You need to find country with real hills.
The 99.9 mpg is end of the scale, as I was doing much better.
With 3 MB who had mpg display, I recorded computer errors from 1% on the best and 6% on the worse. Once you figure out the gauge error, it is pretty reliable.

Follow this path (may vary slightly depending on your set-up):

Control Units
Information and Communication
Instrument Cluster
Control Unit Adaptations
Settings
Trip Computer Settings
Correction Factor of Fuel Consumption

I have gotten 40.5 mpg on my 2008 E320 Bluetec at times but I have to set the cruise control on 55 and drive a relatively flat route. In city driving I get around 28-32 and on the highway at 75 mph it runs around 34-36 mpg.

Heck, I was getting 30+ mpg in gasoline wagon 4M.
All it took was staying in semitrailer tail wind at 60 mph.
